While in Indy I stumbled onto this place and decided to give it a try.
Typical brewpub feel, the brewing operation was visible through windows. Ample seating with several televisions playing sports stations. Unfortunately we were seated in an area where the brewhouse was not visible.
The food was average, lots of choices, but average at best. The beer menu was decent for a small brewpub, I think there were 5 or 6 beers available. My wife had the sampler, and I had the Indiana Amber. The amber was decent, a little forgetable, but not bad. Among the beers on the sampler was a belgian witbier, an APA, a porter, a rasberry wheat fruit beer, and the amber. The belgian witbier was OK at best, but I would not order it again, and the Rasberry wheat beer was pretty bad. The APA and the porter were decent. Unfortunately, they did not have any guest taps, so if you are less than blown away by thier offerings you are out of luck...
The service was disappointing, our server knew nothing about the beer, and rarely checked on us to see if we needed anything else. I think they need to do a better job at training thier staff on the beers that they offer.
Overall this place was not bad, but it was far from stellar. None of the beers were good enough to draw be back in there for a repeat visit.

I went to this new restaurant based on my friend's amazing review. I ordered the beef tips and they were cold. So obviously I gave them another chance. Apparently, they thought they could give me the same beef tips I previously had (without warming them up). I felt the staff was very uncourteous The waitress talked about me behind my back and said some very disingenuous things while I listened. Her name was Dominique I would not recommend her as you waitress.
I also would not recommend this establishment as a place to go due to the poor service and poor Attitude of not only the sever but also the owner who was present And was made aware of my issues with my meal and he had no issues with sending me away unsatisfied

I live in Southern Indianapolis. This place is Perfect for where I live. It's out of the way if you're coming from the airport or if you live in Indy--but it's worth it. It's hard to find great craft brew and great food in the same restaurant in Indianapolis. This place has BOTH. The annual beers are solid, and the you'll usually find a great seasonal beer. One thing that makes these guys stand out with their beer, and one thing that's really hard to achieve with brewing, is that they nail fruit flavor in their beers. The Raz Wheat is an annual beer, and the Apple Buzz is an autumnal favorite. Both are worth buying a growler of.
The food is diverse and you will usually see the waitstaff busting their butts to get things done. It has a bar atmosphere and can be noisy during peak hours. They have a lot of tvs and you can usually catch the game.
Overall it's a very likable place that stands out from downtown craft brew attractions. Oh, and if you know what Cincinnati-style chili is, they outdo ALL of the Eastern competitors. Their chili spaghs are penultimate!
I really would recommend this place over most anywhere in Indy. My ratings seem high, but I think this place deserves a great rating. Truly worth a visit!

I was stopping for the night in the Indianapolis area enroute to CO. So, being from CO, this place had a high standard to live up to. it didn't disappoint, but it was not extraordinary, however.
The overall impression is 'competent, but unremarkable'. Atmosphere was pleasant enough but not really comfy. Several TV screens with the usual sports showing (why can't they have news or Discovery Channel or something other than sports??? - How many people @ a brewpub REALLY want to look at sports?) Anyway, the service was a bit peremptory - They were moderately busy and probably short a waitress. I ordered the taco salad. It was, like the brewpub, competent, but unremarkable. Plenty of it, though, so not a bad value. The waitress visited to take the initial beer order, then came back for the food order. A second person brought the food, took a second beer order and brought that. Didn't see the waitress again until she asked, in passing, if I wanted another beer then brought the bill. she missed the opportunity to sell me dessert. I told her that I'd have ordered it if she'd asked. Wanted a little time to let the beer settle before driving.
I sampled two beers, their 'Uber Weizen', a seasonal, and their 'Superfly IPA'. The weizen was definitely an American wheat. Good flavors of banana and yeast, with a hint of citrus. Served with a wedge of lemon, in the more proper fashion, rather than the fashionable orange. The name is a bit pretentious: Not a German weizen.
The 'Superfly IPA' was pleasing: weak head, but good deep copper color. Crisp, citrus/piney hoppiness with a strong malt base and clean finish.

I grew up less than a half mile from this place and can remember riding my bike to the brewery to get lunch on Saturday afternoons. Once I got old enough to drink, Oaken Barrel was my local brew of choice.
The place itself used to be a lot more hip than it is now. Service is still good for the most part and the prices rarely change. Locals know the little add ons and changes you need to make to sandwiches that are not listed on the menu. For example: often they don't tell you (and it wasn't on the menu last time I looked) but Waffle Fries this place has are awesome and a lot better than the regular ones.
Grab growlers if you can, they are always willing to fill ya up right. One day a week they do a cheaper filling.
Don't be afraid to sit in "the brewhouse" it is a little more cramped, but they usually have the older, more seasoned staff and all of the regulars sit in there or at the bar.
