I had this on tap last night at Alpine Village.

Pours a cloudy opaque yellow. Thick white foamy head that dissipates quickly leaving a thin layer of foam for the remainder of its time in the glass. No lacing.

Smells of ripe banana, and some orange. Some hints of sweetness.

Tastes creamy up front, a little citrus, with banana. Some carbonation at the end

Mouthfeel is creamy up front, very full body. Bananas linger a little bit.

I've been back from Germany for 2-years now, and this was a pleasant surprise.
I very solid example of this style.

pored a hazy gold color with big rockyt head, smell was kinda bland for a weisse.A little citrius and smokey hint but nothing that would wake u up.Maybe a little clove in the taste with banana undertones but not anything really coming thrue.Real bland in my opinion there is alot better coming from Bavaria for sure.

Thin but creamy head with no lacing does not bode well for this hazy pee-colored beer. Nose is old hops, slight yeast, whiffs of banana.

I am pleasantly suprised here. Citrusy hops with faint grassyness and banana, and a good yeasty finish. Clove character shows up with continued quaffing. This is the first German wheat I've ever had and quite frankly I was expecting more, but its still good. I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and assume this is an old bottle. Mouthfeel is creamy and good for the style.

Presentation: 11.2oz brown bottle. Freshness date on the back label.

Appearance: Very cloudy pale golden beer with a white foam head that settles to a creamy lace.

Smell: Lemony citric, light malty aroma and hints of clove and yeast.

Taste: Extremely smooth and creamy on the palate with an even, sweet malt character. It broken by a soft lemon bitterness that strikes the palate with some backing carbonation fizz and settles back into the malt. Banana and thin notes of clove and other herbals fold into the sweet malt which makes a second round with a touch of sweet caramel. A little dry, bitty and oily in the finish.

Notes: A very flavourful hefeweizen beer (especially if you leave 1/4 in the bottle, swirl and pour into your glass -- yeast is good). Balanced, complex, traditional and quite the authentic beer. A world class beer in my beer book.

Thanks to Warsteiner for the sample!

The color of straw, with a snowy white head. The nose promises banana, clove, and a decocted maltiness and the taste delivers. Beautifully balanced - a bit lighter in body than, say, Franziskaner, but soooo quaffable. One of those "what does it taste like when it warms up? The world may never know" beers because it disappears very quickly from the glass. A very, very good hefeweiss that I hope to find in bottle soon.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz. bottle into a weizen glass.

Appearance: The body was cloudy and had a cool, golden yellow color with visible carbonation. Its head is thick, creamy and bright white in color. It slowly fades to a thin cap that hangs on till the last sip and leaves nice lace on the glass.

Smell: There is an inviting aroma of wheat, clove, fruity yeast and banana.

Taste/Mouth feel: The flavor has a good wheat malt base with fruity yeast that has notes of banana. Mellow herbal hops, spicy clove and a touch of lemon round out the flavor on a smooth creamy palate with a medium body and lively carbonation. It finishes somewhat dry with some lingering wheat and dry earthy tones.

Notes: This is a great example of a German hefeweizen. The balance is spot on for the style and it is wonderfully refreshing and very easy to drink.

500 ml brown bottle with no freshness date, a little blurb about the beer on the back label. Decent lace for the style with some sporadic stickage, even cloudiness within the pale golden brew.

Light but sharp twang of wheat, soft spiciness and faint yeast in the aroma.

The mouth feel is structured very well with a deeply textured carbonation that provides a stellar crispness in the moderate body. Big bursting juicy wheat malt flavours, lots of grain in the mouth and so in a dry way. Quick cut into the palate with some clove spiciness, very mild alcohol character other than the light warming. Yeastiness is earthy and mineral like and adds a needed harshness to the palate for balance. Dry finish with a clean lingering grain.

A good solid German wheat beer, give this one a go especially if you are into really dry wheat beers. I’ll be going back to this one on occasion.

Mini growler filled up at DeCicco's in Ardsley, NY. Pours light apricot, semi cloudy, skimpy head for a hefe, tiny bubbles, fine and well developed lacing left behind. Strong bananas, vanilla and cloves in the nose. More cloves and banana notes that jump out onto the palate. Easy drinking and tasty enough hefe. Lacks the depth of flavors and complexity of the heavy weights of the style. But I still enjoyed it and suggest you give it a try or two as well

50cL brown bottle with "Königlich Bayerisches Bier" on the front. Is it really? Bearing in mind it's a cold Weizen on a thirsty night...

Appearance: Average cloudy pale orangey-yellow colour, your run-of-the-mill Bavarian Hefeweizen. Head retention is disappointing, and head is snow-white. Even though I poured it imprecisely, without stirring up the Hefe on the bottom of the glass, it didn't leave a brown stain on the head like most Weizens do. Although the bottle looks German, there is something non-genuine about this beer. Still, it's cloudy, it's approximately the right colour, but its authenticity so far is poor.

Smell: Thin, but fairly true to the style. Banana, phenol, wheat malt. Not bursting with flavour, but very German - reserved, polite and unassuming. Pretty average, not a great Weißbier.

Taste is also less than outstanding. Slightly sour, marginally more complex than the smell makes it appear, but not entirely true to the style. Banana is less evident, phenol still around with some tartness in the mouth. Dry, refreshing, but rather bloating - this fills your stomach up in a watery way which is not what you want on a spring eve in a warm house. You don't want that at all, really.

Mouthfeel is way too thin - lacking a lot. There is still something to chew on there though, probably due to the fact it's a cloudy beer - the bottle conditioning adds something. Drinkability - not impressed because of the belly-filling-up-with-water effect. It's refreshing but I hate that bloating sensation.

Overall - not a bad beer, but I am hard on my Hefeweizens because I enjoy them so much. Tough love. If this were rated in terms of any beer style, it would be marginally above average.

Poured into a pint glass.

Color is an extremely hazy yellow/gold. Had a little head which faded fast.

The smell is citrusy with a little spice in there. Smells of almost lemons or oranges. Definitely the product of the wheat.

Taste is light, powerful and refreshing. Catching hints of the citrus flavor. Almost no bitterness from the hops at the end. Extremely smooth.

I am a big fan of this beer. Extremely drinkable and refreshing.

On draught at Kickoff in Waterloo.

Poured a light, cloudy golden hue with a well-rounded, foamy head. Sheets of lacing, great retention.

All the usual suspects are there: wheat malts, coriander, flowers, banana, cloves and spice. Very good nose to it.

A fine, easy to drink hefe. Not the best of the style, but certainly very well done. Starts off like a typical hefe, with robust banana and clove flavours, but it kind of loses momentum near the finish, which is peppery and a bit thin. Maybe dry is the right word.

Mouthfeel is light, slightly creamy.

A solid hefe, and a pretty decent brew to cap off the evening. I'll still probably go Hacker or Weihenstephan, but this is a fine choice as well. Eager to try their dunkel...

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a standard pint glass. Soft pour yields one finger head that diminishes quickly. Beer pours a golden slightly cloudy amber color. Smell is slightly yeasty, with hints of citrus and light sweetness. Taste is light doughy, yeasty with a very mild sweetness, some citrus. Another very nice summer beer. Light easy to drink but still very flavorfull. Nice crisp finish.

Appearance:
Clear golden yellow. Head is light. I like this style of beer to be more hazy in the glass. Overall average.

Smell:
Interesting smell... not sure if I like it or not!! A bready and coppery smell comes to nose first. Intersting...

Taste:
A grainy and sweet flavor. Again different than what I'm used to with the style. Flavor has metallic overtones.

Mouthfeel:
Nice feeling in the mouth. Carbonation level is good. Beer coats tounge well.

Drinkability:
Easy drinking beer.. .I like the flavor but it's different than I would expect. Overall pleasant.

Edit: I'm having a second bottle now... I'm thinking the first bottle was bad.. this bottle was much cloudier and has a more expected flavor.

I love hefe-weizens, and this one after cracking the bottle smelled amazing!!! It poured a hazy unfiltered golden hue, with a bright white color. Very thick lace that is pure eye candy for a true beer lover. This is a style I could drink all day, the aroma is full of spices, banana, and cloves it's so pleasant almost like smelling some ginger or cinnamon. A swee contrasting aroma that fills up my senses, and also contains a bit of a citrus scent to it. Very good the first sip I am greeted with all of the yeast flavors that blend so well together, and the malt gives this beer an amazing level of drinkability if you like wheat beers like I do. Finish is very banana, and complemented with a fair level of carbonation. This is a lighter bodied beer with a fluffy moutfeel to it, and I really am enjoying this one. In fact anybody into wheat beers will like this one, amazingly drinkable and satisfying down to the beer lover's soul.
