GF bought this for while she was on a trip to Louisiana. Pours a nice golden weissbier yellow. Decent banana and clove aromas and flavours. Nice mouth feel, ok aromas... not the best weissbier but not the worst. It's worth picking up one to try out and see what is like but I don't think I would buy it on a regular basis. Also it was like 2.49 US for a 16 oz bottle... so a little pricey in my opinion.

Pours a very hazy, pineapple gold color with a huge, three finger white head that fell slowly producing some clingy lacing. Aroma is banana and bubble come, very wheaty and grainy smelling, maybe some hints of citrus. Very nice aroma. Taste is more bubble gum and light citrus, not a lot of sweet malty flavor, little to no bitterness. Flavor is just a little too light. This beer is medium bodied and goes down very smooth. Nice Hefe, but I've had much better.

Got this at De Bierkoning in Amsterdam

Into a weizen glass

APPEARANCE: Pours a large 3 finger fluffy but thinner white head. Very cloudy and has lower end carbonation. Colour is orange-tangerine. Head dissipates rather slowly into a blotchy and chunky film cap. Some decent lacing ensues.

SMELL: Nose of wheat malt with banana, lemon and some orange peel undertones as well. No real bubble gum or clove evident. A nice citrus type nose for a German weizen, but slightly weak.

TASTE: Much different than the nose. Wheat malt of course and a sweet kind of metallic taste is there as well. The initial taste lacks slightly, but the mild and longer lasting aftertaste has more sweet malt and a slight bit of doughy bread. Also has a slight bit of spicy alcohol in the back of the aftertaste, which is rather unique for the style. Not bad, but not great either.

PALATE: Medium-thin body with higher end carbonation. A bit of prickliness on the way down and finishes slightly sticky.

OVERALL: Somewhat different than the norm, but not necessarily memorable in a positive way. Quite average everywhere else as well. Drinkable enough, but nothing worth remembering or seeking out.

Note: The bottle explains that Ludwig had a monopoly on weizen bier during the wheat shortages many moons ago. If this was the only weizen on the market I'd still drink it, but I'd long for the day when...

First, I could drink this beer all night...

Color is pale yellow.

Smell: Smell is intense fruity with some light floral smell.

Taste: Sweet, just like a weissbeer should be, very nice. Love it... can't stop drinking!!

Mouthfeel: This is very refreshing and in mouth, the beer is sweet. Love it!

Simple but at the same time so tasty and sooo good!

Pours clear yellow with nice white head. Smell - straight wheat and this pretty much it. Taste - sweet, wheaty, a bit spicy. It's not that bad, but I'm not impressed. Nice level of carbonation, overal it's a pretty good brew, I'd probably try it again just make sure I was right with my first review.

A - Poured gold that produced a white head that retained well and left some lacing around the glass

S - Wheat, lemon, and pepper

T - Wheat with lemony bite, some sutle spicy black pepper, and cloves

M - Medium body with moderate carbonation

D - Good beer, goes down clean and stays around

Served in a hefe-weiss glass at 6-10 c.

Pour a rather light straw yellow with a murky orange hue to it. Huge head that dissipates to a quarter inch thick crown, some lacing.

Aroma of cookie dough, wheat malt and lemon rind. Flavor of wheat malt, banana esters and some citrusy notes (curuacao and lemon). Bitterness is restrained, finish is a little heavy. Mouthfeel is a tad more thick and filling than other hefe's I've had before.

A nice lawnmower beer, try it with some stuffed mushrooms and a nice vegetarian pizza!

Beer bottle (50 cl.), tasted in 2008.

Appearance : golden color, with white, fine-bubbled and lasting head.
Smell : wheat, citrus and spicy aromas.
Taste and mouthfeel : citrus and lemon flavours. Finish is again citrusy and a little spicy (cloves).
Drinkability : a good beer in the style German Hefeweizen.

Bottle: Poured a dirty beige color weizen with a huge foamy pure white head with good retention and some minimal lacing. Aroma of banana and cloves is too subtle for style. Taste is a mix between some medium wheat malt with traces of banana and cloves esters. Something resembling smoke is also noticeable but out of place within the style. Full body with limited filtration with some good carbonation. Not as clean and ester are a bit oof but still enjoyable.

Poured a light orange, almost gold body with a fluffy head that went down slow and left little lace patches. Contained some soft wheat in the smell for a little hint of sweetness, and contained some citric and spicy notes as well. A lighter tasting beer but still fuller-bodied and fluffy like a hefe should be. The wheat twang is subdued and a citricy, mostly lemon, taste with some clove on the backend comes out for a little spicier ending than I'm used to. Not my fave but still a good hefe.

Huge fan of the wiessbier or viezbeer yah. Overall it felt like a flat version of the belgium style wiessbier. I truely liked the beer but was overall not too impressed. I think this may be a wiess that I may skip over down the road. It was a good intro to the white beer selection. but it seemed to lack the full flavor that you need in a traditional white beer. I would recommend Hoegarrden or however they spell it.

Tasted on tap in a beer house in Alimos, Athens, Greece.
Looked "royal" in its fancy weizen glass. The color was deep yellow, hazy as expected and the head lasted for a few minutes to leave a long lasting lacing.
The smell was gentle grainy and fruity.
The taste was also gentle, lacking excessive carbonation.
Mouthfeel was much better and it went well accompanying german sausages.
Even if it's 5.5% ABV, the alcool isn't apparent and you can drink more than expected!
An overall nice hefe weizen!

Poured from the bottle a cloudy lemon yellow with a small yet foamy white head.

Pleasant aroma of lemon, banana, yeast, and wheat.

The taste is much like the aroma with bright lemon, banana, and yeast. Finish is clean with a slight metallic tinge to it.

Lighter bodied, crisp and dry, and light carbonation.

This is a nice Hefeweizen. Crisp and clean and easy to drink.

A- Pale yellow color, cloudy, one finger thick fluffy white head that lowered to a thin cover

S- Lemons, banana, yeast, bready, pale malts

T- Wheat, yeast, bready, light malts, citrus, clove, hint of banana

M- Medium body, low/medium carbonation, chewy, slightly dry finish

D- Worth trying

Definitely a good example of a Bavarian Hefe-Weizen. Brings me back to the vacation I took in Southern Germany and Austria.

Poured from bottle into weizen glass.

A: Beautiful hef colorings, hazy golden with huge pillowy head that stuck around for a long while. Really nice looking beer.

S: Bready, wheaty tones. Did not pick up a lot of spice of banana tones as I usually expect in a hef.

T & M: Definitely the wheatiest hefeweizen that I've had in my beer tastings. Similar to the smell very little spice apparent. Mouthfeel slightly watery but not overwhelmingly so.

D: Drinkable, not my favorite hefeweizen but I would not mind in the least having this beer.

Poured from an 11.2 oz. bottle into a weizen glass. Cloudy yellowish orange with a big three-finger head that fades slowly into a 1/2 finger cap.

Aroma is of banana, the spiciness of clove, and actually some pineapple. Taste is not as good as the smell. It's a bit earthy, and far less of a phenolic presence than most hefeweizens I've had. It's actually a little bland.

Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated and medium bodied. Definitely drinkable, but I'd skip this one for some Ayinger, Weihenstephaner, etc.

Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang castle on the bottle of this one. Good flick. It pours a hazy deep golden wheat with a fizzy lid of white foam.

Nice nose, a bit of lemon, sweet wheat, good amount of banana, and a touch of clove.

Flavor is mostly softly sweet wheat with some banana and decent amount of spicy kick. Medium bodied with a decent amount of fizzy feeling carb, but still slightly limp feeling to it.

Not a bad hefe, middle of the pack with decent flavor.

Geez, what a disappointment! I see this was just named best weisse or hefe weisse in beers of the world mag. Had this some year back and thought it was ok. and still think the same today. Ok, and nothing more. Hazy yellow, fine white head, good carbonation. Not much aroma. didn't pick up much in the way of the standard bavarian hefe weiss characteristics then or now. Maybe in this backwater we're not getting the good, fresh stuff.

Appearance: Pours a hazy light honey color with a foamy head that persists well but leaves less lacing than expected

Smell: Banana and clove are present but not as strong as in other hefes

Taste: Spiced banana bread up front, with a lemon and green apple element showing up by mid-palate; after the swallow, the flavor fades rather than builds, although the clove and tart elements persist

Mouthfeel: Medium body with prickly carbonation; lacks the fuller creaminess of the better examples of the style

Drinkability: Despite its flaws, this is hefe that is focused more on drinkability than strong flavor and, to that end, it succeeds; very easy to knock back a few of these on a hot day

I can sum up this beer in one word - YUM!

Has a pleasant taste, a little on the sweet side, but that is normal for weissbier. Excellent smooth and silky mouthfeel with just the right amount of carbonation.

If you like Hefe beer, you are sure to love this beer, enough said!

Pours a very hazy, dirty orange color, with a nice thick head that does settle down kind of quickly. Aroma isn't bad with yeast, bananas, vanilla, cloves. Much of the same flavor with quite a bit of yeast and a citrusy, vanilla, wheaty flavor. As the case with many hefe's I've had before the finish is rather bland leaving me wanting a little more. Perhaps a touch more spice would do the trick. Still it's pretty good and definitely a refreshing beer for a warm day

This is a hazy orange hefe topped with an almost pure white head which is held in place for a while by some fairly active carbonation. Some yeast sediment settles in the bottom of the hefe glass. Smells complex and zesty with some bananas, white grapes, lemons, sour apples and sweet bread involved. Tastes sweet, a bit sour and creamy. There's some rice and candy involved. Mouth-feel is smooth, fulfilling, and somewhat big for the style. This is good though. I'll be honest. I grabbed one of these a few weeks ago and it was borderline spoiled or something. I'm glad I gave this one another shot, because it is now one of my favorite hefe's.

L - hazy, yellow color with a fluffy white head that left some lacing behind.

S - sweet and spicy smelling wheat beer.

T - loads of flavors, banana, lemon, clove and other spices.

F - light and crisp.

D - a good brew fit for Royalty and Beer Lovers alike!

The best part about this beer, it's the cheapest Hefeweizen I can find.

I wouldn't put it up there with the best of the bunch, but it isn't a bad beer at all. Good, for the price.

The pour is a crystal yellow color, almost like a pilsner. Not cloudy at all. There is a small head, that wanders off quickly. Lots of bubbles make their way up the glass like champagne.

The taste is light, but still have a little bit to it. There's the wheat, and a little banana in there. There's a little bit of skunkiness, though. Not too much to make it taste bad. I actually don't mind it and kind of like it.

The banana smell comes through, also.

Overall, not bad for a cheap weissen.
