Served with a quick settling thin white head that crowns a bright clear pale gold body.

Crisp grainy sweet malt on the nose, along with equally crisp grassy hops.

Bready malt and crisp grains up front in the flavour, finishing with clean light grassy hops. Can get a bit of a rounded sweet/sour funk to it if it warms too much.

Medium-light mouthfeel with moderate carbonation.

Not bad for a local draught offering, but I've noticed that this particular pilsner can be a bit hit and miss depending on freshness, and tend to order it with a bit of apprehension. Also while the flavour tends to have the basics in the right places, the overall flavour in general seems to be somewhat muted for what the style is capable of exhibiting.

Golden pale apperance with minimal head that disappears quickly, but decent lace. Smell is hard to pick up, but got a hint of grain and malt.

Taste is a little better, picked up grain, citrus and bread. Picked up a hint of floral hops and malt as well. Smooth light body with moderate carbonation. Aftertaste is dry, but clean.

Overall, this is an okay Pilsner, nothing spectacular but nothing offensive. Worth a try if you want something light and crisp. Drink it on an Original Joes patio in the summer.

On-tap at Original Joe's in Winnipeg.

Nice white head atop a very pale yellow body. Hints of cooked vegetables and light hop aromas play through. Body is crisp and finishes well. Light bready malt and spicy hops are the primary flavours.

Not bad at all for what it was and what I was expecting.

16oz glass - a new house beer for the Original Joe's restaurant chain, brewed exclusively for them by Big Rock. Sampled at the Edmonton Downtown Oliver location.

This beer appears a clear, bright pale golden yellow colour, with a thin cap of sudsy and wispy bone-white head, which leaves some decent droopy lace as it and the first few gulps disappear.

It smells faintly of grainy, crackery, and bready pale malt, a twinge of hard water minerality, and some tame soapy, floral, and dead leafy hops. The taste is semi-sweet, grainy pale malt, wet soda crackers, a touch of sour, overripe lemon fruitiness, red apple skin, and a very meek musty and weedy hoppiness.

The carbonation is somewhat zingy in its otherwise average frothiness, the body medium-light in weight, and too edgy to be considered all that smooth. It finishes trending dry and more or less crisp.

Overall, this Haus Frau is a refreshing enough basic lager, but a bit too middling in the flavour profile for any kind of traditional Pils (and no, I'm not including Saskatchewan in that) - the hops, especially, are just too tame. It actually comes across like a blend of a decent Continental version, and a run of the mill Canadian macro lager, i.e. dumbed-down.
