I go to Frugal's quite a bit since they are very close to my work and it's on the way home. I'd say they have a pretty good selection, comparable to other large beer stores in the Nashville area such as Barleycorn's, with both a high-alcohol store and a low-alcohol store on the same premises.

The service is pretty thin on the beer side. I've not had anyone really offer much help or seem very interested in what they were selling. In my opinion, the beer is kind of an afterthought as compared to their wine and liquor sales. One time I bought some Duvel and the guy checking me out was amazed, basically saying "Whoa! You're spending that much on a beer, dude?" Amazing

They have an e-mail newsletter that only discusses wine, no beer. That being said, they do have a nice website that discusses some of the beers they carry, although it is not kept up to date with their current stock.

Prices seem in line with the rest of the mid-Tenn area.

Had an entire wall of Bearded Iris and Southern Grist that was priced lower than the brewery. Naturally I stocked up. Check the dates though, some of them were 6-8 weeks old already. They have one fridge door for "Mix-a-Six" but it is not varied enough to build one unless you want 9 month old pilsners and a few New Belgium options. I dropped about $250 here and got some BIBCO Wavelength, Escape Artist, Double Homestyle, Static, and Chief of Chiefs. They had Homestyle (my personal favorite) but it was canned 9/15/20 and the brewery just released a 10/16 so I waited. But all 4 packs can easily be had for $1-2 under brewery cost (example, Homestyle was $13) which adds up when you're buying multiples. Southern Grist selection was a little less impressive but they still had Juicy Pun, Hoppy Timbs, Ambrosia, Boil The Ocean, and Mixed Greens. Of course this is always changing as SG does new beers every week.

They had tons of other stuff too, just not as much as Cork Dorks. Still, 5-6 aisles of nothing but small batch craft beer is pretty impressive.

Cashier and bagger were friendly and I'd return again on my next visit. Do not go on a Friday or Saturday though, you will wait in line for 20 minutes no exaggeration.

We ordered a large keg and a small keg of beer for our son’s wedding. We rented a tap for each. The bartender tapped the small keg first. When she attempted to tap the second larger keg, she realized it was broken and unusable. Many people at the wedding did not like the beer in the smaller keg and would have preferred the larger keg (Bud Light), so they opted to drink something else. Toward the end of the evening, the smaller keg was empty so the useable tap was moved to the larger keg. The keg was returned nearly full. We assumed this company would compensate us for their negligence in sending the faulty tap. This was not the case. They compensated us $20 for rental on the tap that didn’t work but nothing for the beer that would have been drank had it been available from the beginning of the reception to our guests. Had we realized one of the taps was broken, we would have tapped the larger keg to begin the evening. Think twice before using this company, and remember, you often get what you pay for.

Pretty decent local selection represented here. A Georgia favorite Terrapin was here Founder's, Duck Rabbit Brewing, Stone, Good People so nice selection. Biggest problem hands down are the breweries no bottle or can dating on 90% of the stock I could have spent several Hundred here but ended up buying very little. Great growler station too, just nice set up. HOWEVER, they use Clear glass growlers which is disappointing but they do put them in black plastic bags when you leave. Overall nice place I wish I would have grabbed someone to ask about how long some of the beers have sat on site, although really shame on the local breweries for not bottle or can dating you are only hurting yourselves.

Nice size store. Equivalent to almost a total wine. Beer is 1/4 of the store or thereabouts. Had about 16 taps and they did growler fills. Right down the street from Yazoo. They had a couple of special release beers but nothing super exciting. Decent store.

It was a Saturday pm and the shelves where out or low. Went to find Yahzoo Sue and they said they where out. They had a big store and a big section on beer, but it was not stocked. It would have been nice to know when the next shipment of Sue was coming in , but they acted like they did not care.

They had a good selection, almost great. A little hard to find things, and there were two sections, one for liquor and one for beer. However, the famous 'Sue' porter I was looking for was in the liquor section, along with some other great beer finds. A little disorganized, the staff were somewhat distant in person, but helpful over the phone. A great selection for the area, and reasonable prices.

I've had many an excursion to Frugal's.

This is the best selection of spirits in Nashville and the best prices. Wine is pretty good. Beer is pretty good. Growlers are nice, but selection and number could be better (or maybe I'm just spoiled).

Staff is generally helpful, though some of the checkout people aren't the best. Only bad experience was being told my credit card "wasn't accepted" by some little old lady running the register when it didn't swipe initially. Used a different card and left. Forgot to pick up something, came back in, went to the other register, used the "unaccepted card" with no problems and I still use it to this day. But I've only seen her working once and she was polite enough about it, so I can't be too miffed. Other staff was more helpful, especially in selection and recommendations.

This is the place to go in Nashville before a party or some similar evening of debauchery.

I live about an hour and a half drive from this store, but make an occasional trip up this way since they have access to some things I can't get locally especially Stone, Brooklyn Brewery, and Lagunitas.

Selection is decent although stock is spotty at times. I was after some Lagunitas Capachino Stout today, but they were out. Also out of Sucks, and Stone Imperial Stout. I did manage to leave with a big box of good stuff and $100 lighter.

Staff was friendly and helpful, and store is well organized. I wish they offered more singles. Most of the 12 oz bottles are 4 and 6 pack only.

Frugal has made some real efforts in the last several years. As everywhere else in TN, they have a separate low alcohol beer store and the higher (over 6.2%) beers are in the liquor store. They have expanded their high ABV beers to include pretty much everything available in Nashville. Recently they added Green Flash, Laughing Dog, SN (Hoptimum!, Torpedo in Cans!) and also have the high end brews for Victory and Stoudts. Also they have some relatively rare Avery Old Jubilation, which I enjoyed last winter.

The low ABV has singles and growlers. The selection of growler brews are very solid and change often. Their website is not always updated timely, but they update their twitter as to the growler selection and new brews.

Pricing is very good (for Tennessee) and the staff is reasonably helpful but could stand for improvement. Keep an eye out for outdated beers, but I haven't had any problems with that lately.

I've been along time shopper at Frugal's and have noticed their staff is more knowledgable than in the past few years. They have had growler fills for a few months and are up to six handles. They also just started a "buy 10 fills, get 1 fill free" program. You just have to provide your email address, they send you updates about new arrivals and rotating tap handles. The high alcohol section seems to have expanded, but still tucked away in the back corner with the box wine and no cold beers.

Great prices and, if you catch the right person, very knowledgable staff.
