Honey golden hue with a finger and a half of foam that sprouted after the pour. Some lacing.

Spicy American hops in the nose with a heavy-duty booze punch. Spiny bitterness with thick leafiness and nectary dankness. Hints of stone fruit and navel orange from the hops/yeast. Hard to get past the obvious alcohol.

Tangy malt base with esters of white grape and peach. Some green apple, but all of this fruitiness is massacred by hop bitterness, high-pitched alcohol heat, and a rye-like spiciness. A little full-blown for a Belgian-style beer. Brash, maybe, with liberal license of American bittering hops. Light pine is a secondary flavor. Malts support the ale with a biscuity character. Gets a little softer, as it warms.

Great mouthfeel. Oily hop residue lubricates the palate. Surprisingly, thinner body, in feel. Carbonation balances nicely.

While I'm typically not a fan of strengthened Belgian IPAs, this one drinks very well. It's certainly a bruiser, and doesn't hide from it, in flavor. Almost two thumbs up.

Poured from a growler into a Firestone/Walker branded Rastal 2.0 Teku glass

A- Beautiful hazy orange with 1+ fingers worth of a fluffy white head...minimal lacing. For the style, the color, opaqueness and head is perfect. (5.0)

S- Perfectly complex: orange, bubblegum, melon, tropical fruit medley, pine and a dash of banana thrown in for good measure. Arguably the best Belgian IPA/DIPA I have ever experienced. (5.0)

T- Despite 10%, the alcohol goes undetectable. Sweet bubblegum which morphs into tropical fruit and then finally ends in a piney/bitter goodness. The drinkability is outstanding. (5.0)

M- On the heftier side of medium bodied. The sweet malt backbone is quickly consumed by the generous hopping leaving the palate dry and tacky. At 10% ABV the alcohol is undetectable. Despite the growler packaging (and stored for a few days before opening), the carbonation is extremely lively...dare I use the word perfect again and if nothing else, completely appropriate for the style. (5.0)

O - Being that a hoppy Belgian Triple and/or Golden Strong is my favorite style (Flying Fish's Exit 4 is my favorite beer...all-time), Weyerbacher has absolutely killed it with this offering. Unfortunately, this stands to be a one-off release of which may never see the light of day (or darkness of fermentation tank) again. If it were to become a year-round, however, it would replace Exit 4 as my staple. (5.0)
