Made with seven hop varieties, this deep copper-orange IPA is loaded with juicy hop notes of pine, lemon zest, and a layer of pink grapefruit and a strong foundation of toasted caramel malts underneath it all give this beer a complexity that's unparalleled.

This brew was served from the bottle at Jembetat Gallery and Café in Rochester, NY. It was poured into a footed, Weizen-style pilsner glass, and glowed a toasty caramel color. It held a one finger head of tan bubbles which receded quickly. This left patchy lacing and a thin film over the beer, which hung around for the remainder of the tasting. Carbonation appeared solid, and no real haze or sediment was noted. The aroma spoke of pure, crisp malts. These were pale and lightly toasted. The hops quickly came in to dominate the nose, with big citric and floral varietals. There was a big metallic twang which cut right through the center of all the nice notes, with some light booze and a thin pineapple flash. With warmth the aroma became closer to a doppelbock, with honey inclusions and darker, sweeter malts. As we sipped, bright apple and pear fruitiness rode in on a wave of tarry malts. There was much more of a muskiness than expected. This took us to the middle, where bitter grain and earthiness came through almost as strongly as the bittering citric hops and rind. The finish was of chemical phenols, soapy hops, light booze, and a big malty mix. The final stand eventually evens out, with more bitterness at the outset. The aftertaste breathed of soapy hops, thick minerals, stinging booze, and bitter grain. The body was medium to thick and the carbonation was average. The mouth was cooled and refreshed, with a lacking of drying that was expected from the bitterness and the hops. There was pleasant slurp and light cream throughout. The abv was appropriate, and the beer drank rather easily.
Overall, what we enjoyed most about this brew was the nose. There was a nice malty base for the style, which became even deeper with time. This set a nice place for the bittering hops to be showcased. In the end this was nice overall for the style, and a bit more complex than initially expected.

Darker than average color for an ipa, this had an auburn and light brown appearance. Big almost 2" head. Aroma was very woody and not hoppy. Seems all bittering hops up in here.
Taste was a big time caramel malt impression. Substantially bitter and mild alcohol warmth. I think some Simcoe came through, but really, for something named hops infusion, this was a muddled typical grapefruit and caramel type of scenario taste wise. Label artwork was rad, I might be boosting the overall score because of it, I dunno.
Any proclaimed complexity is laughable, this is just a big bitter, big crystal malt ipa that has been done thousands of times.
