Notes/Commercial Description:
This beer is retired; no longer brewed.

Made with seven hop varieties, this deep copper-orange IPA is loaded with juicy hop notes of pine, lemon zest, and a layer of pink grapefruit and a strong foundation of toasted caramel malts underneath it all give this beer a complexity that's unparalleled.

Appearance – very opaque orange/light brown-blended body with pleasant creamy head at pour and admirable lace

Smell – big hops with a sugary undertone

Taste – my tongue was so busy shuffling through grapefruit rind, spice and general hops that the malts, in the form of a sun tea, were noticeable only in the back half of the game; the expected hoppy close even breathes hops; rather severely one dimensional but it does live up to the name nonetheless

Mouthfeel – moderate for a split second then it dives for ‘lightdom’ down the middle and off the backend unless of course its downed with vigor; not big on carbonation; hop zip lays a quality barrage on a solid block of the middle of the tongue and it holds fort for a long while; after a second sample, the tongue suffers light scorch from hops; what else should've I expected; somewhat dry in transition

Drinkability – when you know what’s coming, its a reasonable experience; on a blind sample, you may be knocked off your seat; take heed

Expect hops. Expect more hops. Toss in more hops. To set yourself up for consumption, practice eating raw hops. If you crave the hops, dive in. The brashness of the brew is admirable even if its complete picture is lacking.

The color is that of long unpolished tarnished brass, a thick sort of brownish-orange. It's almost muddy-looking, and completely opaque. The tan head isn't large but it's pretty tight. Lacing is left in moderate to heavy spotting.
There's a raw sort of sweetness on the nose before oily, resinous pine and citrus peel.
The flavor is primarily piney bitterness with definite citrus support. It's raw, earthy and lightly, but not overbearingly, pithy. Just a touch of biscuity malts adds balance. Fruity esters add an interesting element that runs all the way through.
It's about equal parts crisp and smooth, a good feel considering how thick it looks. It isn't particularly, and it's got a nice bite that carries through in its fairly bright medium body. It leans a little cloying, not from sweetness but that thickness does almost pull into it.
