I really liked this one. Not as much as GL, but close. Could easily have a couple of these, and might even be better on tap. Worth trying at any point. Would buy again, if only in a mixed 6 pack because I like to try a variety.

At 5.6% ABV, this is one of the lightest Weyerbacher beers. It's good beer to enjoy because of that. Easy to drink. Nothing super-special about it but it isn't bad.

BBD 1/22/15. Pours a dark amber with a rich dark ruby hue. Excellent head, normal retention and lacing.

Weak, but nice, nose of caramel, a touch of molasses and a hint of dark fruit (fig).

Almost light medium body with a touch of creaminess. Normal carbonation with a bit of effervescence in the finish.

The flavor profile is disappointing. There is some light caramel and a roasted malt nuttiness underneath a somewhat metallic off flavor. The finish is a lingering continuation of the off flavor. I'm glad this 6 pack was a gift, because the rest is going in the garbage.

The worst winter ale I've ever had. Cheap, bitter taste with disagreeable, bitter aftertaste.

12 oz bottle, poured into a goblet

Appearance: Pours a beautiful, almost opaque, dark black color with a quarter of a finger of white head that quickly dissolved into a thin halo of foam that gripped the sides of the glass and formed a few wispy clouds that collected in the center of the top of the beer.

Aroma: Very roasty and toasty. Lots of roasted malt up front, accompanied by some spices of licorice, clove, nutmeg and brown sugar. There’s some subtle floral hops aroma as well.

Taste: Very nice! Lots of roasted malt up front, with notes of freshly baked dark bread, followed by some subtle spices of black pepper, licorice, clove and brown-sugar like sweetness, finished with some well-balanced hops.

Mouthfeel: Slightly chewy and smooth, with absolutely no carbonation what-so-ever. With an ABV of 5.6%, there is no presence of alcohol on the palate.

Overall: This is another solid, delicious beer from Weyerbacher, which is fastly becoming one of my favorite East Coast breweries. Great, strong notes of roasted malt and brown sugar-like sweetness, accented with spice and beautifully balanced hops. Malt fans will love this beer!
