Pours an orangey garnet with minimal head retention. Soft smells of spice and yeast.
Overall flavor is comparable to many dubbels I've had (and even made!). It's calm and subdued, but the alcohol will find you before you know it. Deceivingly smooth, and approachable enough to seduce yourself into sipping without caution. Heavy malts and alcohol dominate. Hops are minimal, of course. Rum-like qualities.
Style-wise, this ale isn't as hefty as one may anticipate. It is good nonetheless. Especially on a cold autumn eve.
