12 oz bottle purchased in Florida during our trip March 2013. Poured into my beer goblet after a few minutes being outside the fridge.
Appearance: Lighter than some quads that I have seen. The beer is quite clear. Thin head dissipates very quickly to a film. Very active carbonation is moving swirling the surface film around.
Smell: Typical Belgian yeast phenolics. A bit of dark fruit in the aroma, maybe cherry-like. Rich malts and Belgian phenolics, exactly what should be present.
Taste: Much more flavor in the taste than the smell. A bit of barrel? Nice caramel and toffee flavors with a hint of sweetness.
Moutfeel: The body is not terribly thick on this one. They were able to get the yeast to ferment to a high level of attenuation. The carbonation is present but not prickly.
Overall: A decent quad. Not sure that I would go out of my way for this one, but nothing wrong with it. I would prefer to have the anniversary beers that they make. (16 was soooo good).
