I sampled this brew chilled. I pour the beer into my snifter. IT pours a rich dark clear, mahogany color. Small off white edge layer of head develops.
Aroma is rich and complex. Yeasty scents and pears and apples, plus a general spiciness. I also get a candied sugar scnet.
First sip, almost no carbonation, with a thick syrupy texture.
Flavor is big and strong. I get the pears and apples from the aroma, the candied sugar makes an appearance too. But now I get a peppery alcohol presence that gives a nice warming feeling all the way down to my belly.
This beer is very complex and I am sure I am missing stuff. FOr being 12.2% it is pretty easy to drink and I look forward to drinking the 2nd bottle in my fridge.
