Cloudy lemon yellow. Rising bubbles are sparse, but still visible in the light. Has a really nice glow to it. The head didn't stick around for long. I have here just a ring with surface glaze.

Lots of coriander and orange peel in the nose. I can pick up mild wheatiness and hints of star anise spice. Not particularly peppery. More orange than lemon. Vibrant yeast characters. Bountiful spice notes. A loud nose for a witbier.

Spicy, but not overly so. In other words, it doesn't reach an offensive magnitude. Star anise, grains of paradise, dried citrus peel, and coriander. Wheaty and tangy with some finishing sweetness. A little too much to finish off with. Lingering, not clean. Some non-citrus fruitiness is present (apricot, white cherry). Spiced like a Christmas beer, drinkable like a summer ale.

Nice and filling for a wit. Big mouthful of soppy medium-bodied liquid. Has that girth that you might not expect. The spiciness adds to the feel, giving it flight. Carbonation is almost medium. Still nice and airy.

A decent wit. Not sure that I recall seeing this before. I may not seek it out again, but, you never know. Maybe I will.

Poured a hazy straw hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was good retention and lacing.

The smell featured featured light esters and a touch of sweetness.

The taste was likewise mildly estuary with some citrus note and a wheat spice.

The mouthfeel was toward the lighter side of the style.

Overall a serviceable wit.

Appearance: Slightly hazy, and pale straw in terms of color. The tightly beaded head is white, with a creamy top, and about two fingers deep. Leaves some soft, spotty lacing on the glass.

Smell: Lemon zest and coriander give way to a light yeasty, fresh-baked bread aroma. A very typical witbier bouquet.

Taste: More tart, and less sweet than other versions of the style, with the spicy citrus character hanging on tight to the tongue. A light mineral taste brings out some extra acidity. Reminds me of a stronger version of seltzer with lemon. A pretty thin flavor profile, overall.

Mouthfeel: Absolutely effervescent. Crisp and refreshing, and on its own, very appropriate for a witbier. The high carbonation, however, makes this already acidic beer even more dry.

Overall: I could see this appealing to some folks on a summer day, but I personally wished for more sweetness and less tartness, considering the style. This beer reminded me of both seltzer water with lemon and dry champagne, and I wonder if this was really what Weyerbacher was going for.

This is deff. a go to beer to keep in the fridge. It has a very smooth refreshing feel. Very crisp and light, great with food.

I was surprised that the smell of this beer was stronger than the actual taste.

I paired it with blue cheese, pita chips and green olives.
