Poured from 12 oz. beer at cellar temperature into Yeti tulip.
A: Much bigger head than expected, which dissipates to a small khaki head. Had forgotten the relatively low ABV for a RIS. Looks good once it settles down.
S: Brief note of the barrel before the dark fruits and chocolate take over. The more I smell it, however, the wood is definitely pervading.
T: Bourbon, oak, and some of the dark fruits from the nose. I do get some of the chocolate, but it's definitely secondary. A lot going on, especially for a RIS that again isn't too high in ABV.
M: Pretty smooth and coats the tongue pretty well. Tastes lingers on the back of the tongue, making me look forward to each next sip.
O: Had been sitting on this for a while. Glad I cracked it tonight, as there was a lot of good and very few detracting factors from this beer. Wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to get it again, but would certainly try it again given the chance.
