12oz. bottle 2 6oz pours into Lost Abbey Tulip.
A: A warming dark amber hue. No head. A ring of minimal lacing. Appears almost whiskey like.
S: Yes this is what I was looking for. Sweet malted over a barrell. Oak is present and dances with the malt as the alcohol runs up behind. Toffee, caramel and fresh homemade bread are linging in the background. This smells great.
T:Oaky, sweet, malt with a slow roasting. It is good. The barrell plays nicely with the malt and the hops backs it up as the caramel enters. Great balance for this style. Holding it longer on the tongue bourbon flavors come out strong, in a good way. A little warmth allows more flavors to come out.
M: As expected of a barrell aged brew. Low carbination allows the flavors to dance, heavy and playful.
D: Slow and steady I want to enjoy this and drink more of it. The alcohol base is there and plays nicely. Definitely a sipper, great on a cold winters night. If you like the style seek this out. I bought a four pack and will be buying more!
