Bottle into snifter. Reviewed at cellar temps.
Pours a murky light brown, hinting at amber, with some funky solids floating around in there. Acted like it might form a head when pouring, but some sparse lacing (or what might be theoretically called that) is about all that amounted to.
Nose is very nice - rich, bready caramel notes pour forth, melding with an oaky barrel presence with just a bit of bourbon. Lighter than expected alcohol, though it's certainly there, and a wee bit of maple.
Taste is very nice. Bready caramel is there, loads of brown sugar, with a light underlying fruitiness hinting at apples, a bit of candied orange. Oak is certainly there as well, creating a light drying presence, with a nice bit of spicy alcohol tingle towards the finish. Exhale shows through with some caramel apples, adn a bit of spice bread doused in even more delicious caramel.
Mouthfeel is full bodied, perfectly balanced carbonation provides a light tingle underneath. Light alcohol bite in the back of the throat. Perfect, honestly - the best aspect of the beer.
Phenomenally drinkable as well - 11.1% abv shouldn't go down this easy. Oak does a fantastic job of balancing the richness.
