bottle from 2010 into a tulip.
A: Pours a deep ruddy amber with zero clarity and a hint of burnt orange hues. There is a small off white head with solid retention and a bunch of lacing.
S: The nose is full of bourbon, raisins, vanilla, oak, caramel, and toasted biscuits. Everything is sensationally integrated and there is zero hint of the ABV.
T: The bourbon is still in strong effect with the oak a bit more subdued. Caramel, raisins, figs, vanilla, and toasted bready malts round out the flavor. The heat shows up a bit in the finish, but damn I like it.
M: Thick as sin with minimal carbonation, but to be fair it totally works.
O: This beer is a great brash example of a barrel aged english barleywine. Compared to the Mirror Mirror earlier in the evening this is not as subtly complex, but it is still ridiculously delicious. It definitely holds its own in the world of BA strong ales. Cheers!
