Light amber, not too much head.
Light raisins and some booze in the nose...not really too much beyond that.
Damn, what the hell? Where was all this hiding in the aroma? A little char, a LOT of toasted coconut. I love beers that have this vanilla-coconut taste, and this one has it in spades. Wow. And the 11.1% here isn't anywhere near as tough as I thought it could be.
The "big beer" manifests itself in the feel...low carbonation, thick feel.
Drinkability is much higher than I thought it would be. You feel it, but it doesn't show in the taste at all, always a plus for a barleywine. I don't know, I wasn't expecting to be as impressed by this as I am.
