This beer was a pleasant surprise. Not as much of an aroma as I expected, definite creamy head, glowing cloudy blood-orange color. Hits you right away with a vanilla bourbon creaminess, strong malt flavor but not heavy. Kind of a "sticky" mouthfeel (I felt like I was getting a "milk moustache" drinking this stuff) but not overly sweet at all - I think cask-aging this takes some of the heady sweetness out of this barleywine's regular punch and helped balance it more. Light whiskey aftertaste mixed with a stronger oak aftertaste. Goes down really smooth. Unusually smooth. Dangerously smooth. I'll be buying this again, oh yes.
