Bought this on recommendation from a trusted homebrewer who has turned me on to other good beers. Was a little nervous because I have yet to like a pumpkin ale... until this one.
A - gorgeous autumn bronze, creamy head and thick lacing
S - smells like my kitchen on Thanksgiving morning, right after I pull the pies from the oven; sweet, spicy, comforting
T - Yummo. Spicy but not overwhelming, with the right balance of expected pie spices, cinnamon predominant. The hint of clove adds a predictably dry note, very pleasant if you like it (reviewers who think this beer is over-spiced may be reacting to the clove). I can actually taste pumpkin. Malty and sweet, but appropriately so for a seasonal beer.
M - Creamy, full mouthfeel that lingers on the palate without becoming cloying. Stays rich on the tongue even after the beer has warmed up past fridge temp, when some beers thin out.
D - This is not a beer for guzzling after you've mown the lawn. It would make a terrific after-dinner beer for a holiday event, or a sipper for enjoying during a quiet evening with your better half.
