12 oz bottle poured into a snifter. No freshness or best by date.

Very cloudy, almost opaque reddish caramel. The off-white head dissipates very quickly, leaving hardly any on the surface of the brew. Just a few dots and small spotches of lace appear down the sides of the glass.

Smells mostly of caramel, and vodka. Hardly any hops are noticeable in the nose, though there are minuscule herbal attributes. Candied grapefruit comes through after warming.

Tastes highly astringent and alcoholic. Some orange peel and caramel. It's very bitter, but not complex at all; just anonymously bitter. After it warms, it becomes more sweet and candied grapefruit asserts itself. Overall, it just isn't complex enough for me, but it tastes alright and goes down nicely after warming. It boasts only a light-medium body, but does have a good amount of carbonation.

I really wish there was some kind of date on the bottle. I have a feeling that it might be a little old based on the strength of the hops in my bottle versus other reviews, so I would be open to trying it again despite not being crazy about this bottle.

A: Pours a deep amber, with a small cream head that fades quickly.

S: Floral, piney and citrusy.

T: Pine notes predominate, subdued and not bitter. Grass and citrus as the beer warms.

M: Smooth and medium, if a little chewy.

O: A fine, balanced and very tasty beer.
