A- Nice redish hue when poured produced 2 fingers of head which quickly dissipated into a thin haze over the top. Minimal lacing.

S- Very potent bourbon and oak scents right off the bat. Lots of alcohol smell with a hint of sweetness.

T- The first thing I noticed in this fine brew was the upfront bourbon flavor. Not overpowering, as other flavors such as oak and dried fruits mingle in the mix. The alcohol heat is also present.

M- Medium mouthfeel. Not too think, not too thin. Little carbonation feel.

D- This is a great beer to sit down and sip at, and I could probably drink 2 at best over an hour and a half or so.

Bottle poured at Tipples Rare and Barrel Aged Beer Tasting on July 13, 2014. Pours a lighter amber color, mostly clear, with a creamy off white head on top. Smells like nearly straight neat whiskey booze and not much else here, maybe some extra sweetness from the malts. Flavor is a bit harsh with sweet candi sugar, light spices, some caramel, vanilla, and lots of straight phenolic booziness. Body is medium, not standing up to the barrels, with low to medium carbonation. Overall this was a bit hot for me, with the whiskey masking the nice hearty sweet flavors from the quad.

Poured from a 750ml corked and muzzled bottle (Bottled On: 5/08/2014, Best By: 5/08/2019),

A- Being bottled conditioned, Blasphemy pours a lightly hazy and gorgeous ruby red with a quickly dissipating single finger, off-white head. (5.0)

S- Absolutely decadent...brown sugar, toffee, caramel and bourbon soaked dark fruits (figs, plums, raisins, grapes, apples) are all wrapped together in a blanket of vanilla goodness. (5.0)

T- Like the nose, bourbon soaked dark fruits (plums, raisins, grapes, apples) along with a strong presence of brown sugar and vanilla consume the palate. However, once you thought things would get cloying, tannins from the barrel enters and create a dry, semi-oaky finish. (5.0)

M- Blasphemy is full bodied and supports the complexity of flavor and aroma very well. Bottle conditioning affords a lush and creamy carbonation making this a dreamy elixir to consume. (5.0)

O- Considering the style and its treatment, you cannot get better. Taking their Quad and gently aging it in Bourbon Barrels raises an already solid beer to dizzying heights. I cannot say enough positive things about this brewery and they deliver once again with Blasphemy. I certainly will not be waiting around to age this beauty of a beer, as it is absolutely brilliant right now! (5.0)

750ml bottle into a goblet.

A: Pours a semi-cloudy chestnut color. The head...well, it sucks. Not even a finger high (off-white shade), with a fizzy texture similar to cola and horrible retention. No lacing, natch - but I do get some alcohol legs on the side of the glass.

S: Nice smell. I don't get the vibrant dark fruits I do from the best Belgian quads, but the whiskey tone helps to compensate somewhat with touches of oak and vanilla. Some nuttiness comes through as well. Letting it open up doesn't really improve it, but it doesn't deteriorate, either.

T: It's fruitier than the aroma indicated, in a good way. The barrel comes through initially, providing some oak and vanilla flavors. These notes continue all the way to the fruity-yet-alcoholic finish. I have to say, the alcohol isn't hidden particularly well. On the other hand, the booze has defined flavors of rum, raisins, and marzipan. After a while, the flavors become quite vinous (at times, almost tomato-y, but not quite). There is some complexity to be found: after many sips, I'm picking up notes of brown sugar and graham cracker. All in all, it's a pleasant quad with a nicely subtle barrel presence, but it isn't top tier, either.

M: The booze is almost startling on first sip - not quite to '13 Parabola levels, but definitely there. It calms down slightly after a while, but only slightly. Like most quads/BSDAs, it's well carbonated and almost airy on the tongue. Even better, the barrel aging hasn't made it too thin-bodied or clean finishing - and yet, it's still fairly drinkable at the end of the day.

O: This is pretty good. Like many 'Murican quads, it lacks that special something to rise it up to Belgian standards - and not even barrel aging can change that. I definitely think it's worth a try, though. I mean, it's pretty well priced as far as a barrel-aged beer goes, just don't expect brilliance.
