The first time I had this, it rejuvenated my love of the Weizenbock style. I think it's an under appreciated, under performed style. This beer is definitely a light at the end of the tunnel, but maybe a bit overdone as a double.
Pours cloudy, murky, muddy. Finger thick tan head. Some ok lacing. Dark and mysterious.
Nose is spice, mostly clove. It gets a little fruity as it warms.
So far so good. Now the taste. Really strong Dunkel. Definite taste of peppery alcohol. There is this sweet finish. I can't put a finger on it. I don't know if its fruit or candy. That's the best part of the session, and I can't figure out what it is... figures. I thinks it's dark fruit. Raison, date... something.
Mouthfeel coats. It's cloying. Some good carbonation, but it's overshadowed by the fact that I don't think this beer is leaving my palate for quite some time.
It's definitely something that I look forward to trying again.
