Black as night with a tofee colored head which disappated to just a few bubbles lacing the glass.
Strong alocholic aroma, somewhat astringent.
Taste is rich, chocolaty, toffee-like alcoholicc, and slighlty vinous. Very boozey like.
Mouthfeel is thick, dank, and viscous.
It finishes arm and tingly on the palate. very strong alcoholic presence with this beer.
I enjoyed two botles of these, would love to get my hands on some more to lay down for a year or two.
Had it again on tap at the Sierra Grill In NOHO.
This time around:
Deep dark black colored with a toffee colored head which reduced to just a few bubbles lingering on the sides of the glass.
Aroma is alcoholic and vinous.
Astringent and bold tasting. VERY boozy. The alcohol taste in this beer smack you right in the face. It's nice. It is rich and chocolaty, with hints of toffee. Very rich beer.
Finishes warm and tingly on the pallet. Enjoy one of these at a time, as this beer is almost big enough for two people to share.
Mouthfeel is thick, and Dank. Did I mention Rich
Serving type: on-tap

Bottle pour at mrbubbler's tasting.
Pours an opaque black with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, and char aromas. Taste is much the same with char, dark fruit, and slight soy sauce flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roasty bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer that is fairly drinkable but showing definite age at this point.
