Turns a Dogfish Head snifter pitch black while producing a half-inch, dark chestnut, rocky head. There is some lacing and a good amount of viscosity on the glass.
Sweet, fruity aromas mixed with alcoholic fumes. Vanilla, licorice, and macerated cherries mix well. Spiciness develops with warmth.
Overall, the flavors are clear, with a pop of bitterness and roasted malt. This Stout is on the sweeter side with chocolate, dates and cherries. The finish starts strong, then lingers with a pronounced vanilla flavor.
Velvety smooth with a full body, lively carbonation and high alcohol. The syrupiness prevents the alcohol from becoming hot or warming.
This is a great sipping beer on its own and would stand up to bold foods. Tiny builds with warmth and would be great over fudge brownies or with a cigar.
