Received this as an extra from randomdanger. Thanks, Will!
2010, Batch 1, corked and caged.
A: Black pour with excellent carbonation and head formation. Decent retention with some lacing.
S: Very roasty and chocolaty. There is some dark fuit and just a touch of Belgian yeast funk.
T: Really dark malt with some intense dark fruit and slight Belgian yeast tang. Maybe just a hint of coffee after the finish. No hops to speak of. Pretty strong alcohol after the finish.
M: Carbonation seems maybe a little too much for an RIS, leading to a slightly thin mouthfeel.
O: Very nice beer. I would have another one. I wonder if there should be a separate category for beers like this and Black Albert - "Belgian Stout" maybe?
