Served in a Dogfish Head snifter.
I'm treating this as a Belgian stout, rather than a BSDA (na na na na boo boo, stick yer head in doo-doo!). Deal with it. I know I will. This guy pours a straight obsidian capped by over a finger of rich soil-colored foam. Off the top o' my head, I'd say it's the third darkest head I've yet seen (behind Zhukov and some unknown brew). The nose comprises raisins, figs, a heft of rum, and some coffee simpering in the other room. It's like one of those snot-nosed kids that have to make noise while there's company over. Just ignore them; they crave attention, positive or negative. Brats. Anyway, the taste holds notes of bitter cocoa, raisins, figs, black cherries, red apples, and a bready yeast in the back (more aggressive than the coffee smell, but not by much). The body is medium, with an active carbonation (a lot higher than expected) and a chewy, but in no way very sticky or mouth-coating, feel. Not bad, overall, but nothing all that special.
