I really fell for Merry Monks so I thought I'd give another Weyerbacher a try. A knowledgeable guy at Hop City in Atlanta recommended Verboten. It poured a beautiful golden/copper color with a thick, foamy head that lasted the entire beer and the stickiest lacing imaginable.
The smell is of some faint pale malts, citrus hops and a fruity Belgian yeast. The taste is a contest between the bitter hops and the fruity yeast with the hops coming out on top. To me it's more BIPA than BPA. Tasty!
The mouthfeel is light with low to medium carbonation. Verboten is highly drinkable and the relatively low ABV only adds to its tendency to have another one right away. I went through this 6-pack in less than a week. I'll get this one again real soon. Kudos to the wonderful brewers at Weyerbacher.
