If you're looking for a tripel brewed in North America, this one is "good" not "great."
A - Looks like a tripel should: honey-straw with a thin head.
S - The hops are more prevalent in this tripel than in others. Pleasant, inviting.
T - Here's where this ale starts to falter. It just doesn't deliver, instead of an alluring strength and balance, Merry Monks is a bit muddy on the palate. Worth drinking, but not among the best tripels.
M - strong effervescence with an alcoholic warmth coming in right behind.
O - Good, but La Fin du Monde is a better example.
