Serving: Bottle into a chalice.

A: Clear golden pale yellow/copper with half an inch of head. Medium level of carbonation. Not really lacing the glass up that much.

S: Pale malts and strong belgian yeast. Spot-on for a tripel.

T: Big malt and bready, belgian yeast flavor, with a slight alcohol burn to it. Pretty well balanced.

M: More carbonation than the appearance led on. Just enough to bite into the mouth. Very good.

O: A pretty good tripel. I picked this up on a whim and I'm glad I did. Would buy again.

Nose on this one is of serious bubble gum and banana. I even exclaimed to my wife just how sweet and bubble gum the aroma was. Very sweet, even for style.

Pours a dark golden color in my Chimay glass with a decent head with fair lasting power.

Taste is quite sweet, even for a tripel. One of the sweetest ones I've ever had, in fact. Bubble gum and banana is all over the place here. Also, cloves are noted though certainly in the background...and a little bit of heat shows up as well to show that this isn't a weak beer. At 9.3 percent ABV, it isn't a surprise how thick this beer is on the tongue. Just a twinge of hops at the finish, but very minor.

Honestly, one of my favorites in the style. I really love the sweetness, thickness and spice in this one. Great rendition of style.

bottle poured into a tuliup glass. Pours a bright straw yellow capped by a foamy white head with ok retention. Head reduces to a light lacing cap. Light biscuit and clove in the nose. Taste is clove, clove and more clove, slight biscuit, grass, and the alchohol becomes noticable as it warms. Mouth is full bodied and quite a sipper.

Bright and hazy golden-yellow hue with tons of carbonation visible rising to the top. Big two finger head off a pretty slow pour that dissapates at a medium speed to a thick sea foam sheet, white in color. The smell is strongly of overripe banana, clove, and peppery spices. Very aromatic and lovely to put your nose into.

Plenty of banana and clove in the taste as well, the clove having a nice but not overpowering spiciness to it. Other peppery spices come in as well, making for a playful palate that has a nice balance of sweet overripe banana-like flavors and peppery, dry flavors. This dynamic makes for a superbly drinkable tripel that has plenty of flavor in each sip. Sweet and juicy in the front, moving to dry and crisp in the middle and back, making for a dry finish that lingers with clove and peppery flavors and a hint of that banana in the aftertaste. Not an off flavor in this beer, really well made and well-rounded. A thicker, biscuity malt makes for a really nice background that lets the spices and sugars play around on the palate. 9.3% ABV? Really? You can't taste it or sense it much except for a touch on the breath as the excellent flavors overwhelm it.

Very well-crafted brew. Complex, but with a high drinkability. Makes for a great sipper, and definitely worth a buy.

Poured amber honey from a 750 ml bottle.

The expected smell of bread, spice and citrus on the nose.

What sells this beer for me is the taste, though: It IS a merry beer, with the distinct taste of pecans and pie on the first try. The nutty flavor persists throughout and rounds this high-alcohol ale very well. Good ole times come forth and the mind drifts away with the Merry Monk.

Cloudy honey amber brew with a glossy meringue head of an inch's height in a tulip glass.

Musty yeast smell with esters of blood orange and clove. Bit of white pepper and a spearmint hop essence.

Big crusty bread malts with juicy fruit esters. Pear, orange, apple, and banana. Spicy yeast conjures more ground pepper. More must. Nice minty/grassy hop following the nose.

Weak carbonation. Feels wet and a bit flat. Medium body leaning toward full.

This is some good stuff! Another worthy reason to buy the 'Big Beers' case from Weyerbacher. However, this delight comes on draft tonight. Definitely worth the drink.

12 ounce bottle, bottle stamp date says 100611 100613. Served in a St. Bernardus chalice, the beer pours a hazy dark gold color with about an inch off-white head that stayed around a while. There's also a small amount of lacing. Aroma is yeasty, the brew smells like cloves, bananas, bready malt, pears and some green grapes. It tastes like bready malt, yeast, cloves, candy sugar, pears, and bananas. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a bit creamy and is very carbonated. The soft carbonation helps make this easy to drink. I think it's an OK brew, but there really isn't anything about this that would make me want to buy it again. With that being said, I do think it's worth trying.

Poured an almost clear golden/hay color from a 12 oz bottle, with ABV and 'bottling' date marked on the label/bottle. There was some sediment floating around with a nice steady stream of carbonation in my Duvel glass.
One finger worth of head that dissipates very quickly, leaving a ring around the edges.
Aroma is very fruity and spicy with lots of banana, lemony sweetness, clove, some nutmeg notes and yeast.
Taste is just wonderful, sweet upfront with the fruity esters very noticeable. There is a crisp, tartness in the finish. This is just a wonderful beer, words cannot do enough justice to this beer.
The alcohol is almost non-noticeable in the taste upfront. The alcohol warmth became evident only towards the last few sips of the beer. Good mouthfeel and good drinkability.
Overall, a very nice brew from Weyerbacher and is definitely worth a try.
