A-Deep, dark ruby and mahogany highlights brownish copper with a thick tan head that slowly reduced to a thin cap and left nice sheeting lace.
S-Earthy spiciness with a healthy dose of oak. Dark malts combine nicely with dark fruits consisting of prune, dark cherries and raisin. Light hint of Cabernet Sauvignon in the background. Touch of honey sweetness in the finsih. Quite interesting and complex.
T-Overwhelming dry oak, spicy notes and a tongue shriveling astringency. Alcohol burn in the finish. That's about it....some moderating sweetness but not much else. Quite disappointing after the interesting aroma profile.
M-Medium to medium-heavy bodied and then dry, dry, dry, oh...and a bit of spicy bitterness.
O-After so many solid anniversary beers this one from Weyerbacher is a big let down! Nice complexity in the nose is lost on the palate. A braggot? Where is the balacing honey sweetness this one is just dry and spicy. Plus, at 10+% you aren't going to be pounding this one. Not too happy to know I have three more bottles left...I see extras in future packages!

I've never had an Anniversary beer from Weyerbacher that I didn't think was of the highest quality. Big fan of this brewery, even though I think there year-round options could use some work. Nice dark color ale with aromas of sweet malts, mild hops and honey. And, it comes together in the taste. Flavors are right now. The only criticism I could possible offer is it may be too sweet. It's works, though. Again, there's the honey - and I'm a sucker for dark ales anyway. Mouthfeel is almost perfect. Super smooth and creamy. Velvety. Great brew - highly recommended.
