This beer has a dark golden color body with no head or lace to it. The smell has a Belgian yeasty and a hint of corander to it. The tasty up front is spicy of peppercorns and some banana and other spices. The mouthfeel is smooth and overall another quality beer from weyerbacher.

Pours out orange in color with a nice one-finger head with little retention but some nice lacing.

Smell is a little citrusy and funky maybe with a little sweet malt backbone to help it out.

Taste has a sweet malt backbone with a tiny bit of funk with a little more funk down the throat that is more lasting. There is a little sweet bitterness when you first take it in and that lasts a tiny bit in the throat as well.

Mouthfeel is fairly thin but when you swash it around the throat it is a little thicker due to the carbonation.

Overall this is a really nice tasting beer. it's not as funky as I would expect but there is definitely some funk there. This beer shines as it is kind of unique in that it is sort of sweet for the style. Maybe that is not true to style as most would agree but it tastes nice for sure. I would recommend this beer but not for the style. It is just a good beer. Really not true to style but I am giving it some leeway as it is a great drinker.

This brew is a lightly clouded pale yellow verging toward gold with lots of brightness. The head, almost pure white, fades from about half a finger to a thick foam that leaves a thinner ring at the top with spotting below.
The aroma has plenty of heat, but it's not face-exploding considering it's a generally soft style over 10%. It's a bit heady, though, considering. It does have some peppery notes and a bit of earth, lots of spiciness and sweetness just short of cloying. Lots of citrus, mostly rind in the aroma, adds an element. Weyerbacher may have tried to overload a style that shouldn't be, but it works out better than I'd think.
Along with must, spiciness and earth, as well as booze-soaked banana, the citrus adds a tangy lemon note as well as orange and lemon peel. Lots of all kinds of fruits are all over the place, largely due to the huge esters. A bite of pepper stays on the tongue after the finish.
Where it's too big shows mainly in the feel. Somehow it's kept together and doesn't stray into territory too bizarre, but its nearly full body is a bit too thick. Smooth, yes, and crisp, yes, just a little too much overall.

12 oz bottle courtesy of mwrecording pours a hazed orange color with a thin cap of white head. Not much for retention or lace.

Nose is tropical fruity and spiced up like a mutha. Overpower the spice and hops, little bit of alcohol, not much else.

Rustic, farmhouse saison this is not. Taste is really tropical, both from the alcohol and rampant yeast. Not overly pleasant as the spices just further separate this beer from its stylistic roots. Its not a bad beer, but more of a tripel than a saison to me and I am not a fan of spice additions in a saison. Bad saison, average beer and falls in the lower tier of Weyerbacher Anniversary beers.
