Notes/Commercial Description:
Last Chance IPA, 5.9% ABV, is a full-flavored hop assault delightfully lacking in balance. We’ve added a combination of Centennial, Cascade, Simcoe® and Columbus hops to produce pungent aromas of grapefruit, pine and citrus.

Weyerbacher Brewing Company donates a portion of the proceeds from the sale of every drop of Last Chance IPA to small, local animal rescue organizations. These shelters offer dogs, cats and other pets their last chance to find a new home.
Have a glass and make a difference! Cheers!

Pours a pale copper hue with white foam forming at least two fingers worth of head. Aroma has a muddled mix of hops a bit of dank earth and citrus notes but nothing really pops here, there's also a slight metallic "copper penny" note to it as well. Faint fruitiness from the malt base a bit of even keeled biscuit malt. Flavors more muddled hops a bit of dank, earthiness, with super high alpha bitterness in the form of citrus pith/rind. Not much sweetness to balance it out, maybe some pale biscuit malts. Mouthfeel is slightly slick with hop oils, even keeled well attenuated feel no residual sweetness carbonation cleans the palate with each sip. Lingering hops between sips, I like my more tropical/citric IPAs that have been out in number this still has a place in the DBF, but it honestly won't make my regular rotation.

We pour a brew of muddy honey coloring into our Great Lakes pints. It holds a billowing two and a half finger tall head of cakey, egg white colored bubbles, showing excellent retention. Sticky, three-dimensional honeycomb lacing is left all around the glasses as it slowly descends. Haze is thick and swirly, with chunks of sediment noted to be bobbing about the glass. Carbonation appears to be active. The aroma is zesty and bright, giving grassy, earthy, and citric citra-esque hops, pale and lighter caramel hops, baby powder, juicy peach and nectarine fruitiness, moisturizing lotion emollients, waxiness, light wisps of booze, black pepper, basement mustiness, rustic carrot juiciness, spicy lemon juice, and a mineral-laden clay wateriness. Our first impression is that the hops have quite a bite, with flavoring that is otherwise to an extreme, perfumed, floral side that was not expected. As we sip, the taste opens with bittering hops of grassy, perfumed, floral, and grapefruity varietals, with chalky pale malts, lemon juiciness, table cracker dryness, soft banana esters, sweaty saltiness, black pepper, pretzel breadiness, and tangerine sweetness. The middle peaks with continued orange and citrus fruit sweetness, musty pale malts, sourdough breadiness, marjoram, dill, fresh mint leaf, cinnamon spice, and rumbly herbal hops. Washing through the finish are coppery metallics, sea saltiness, cardboard, pale malts, salted doughy breadiness, baker’s yeast, phenolic spice, ethanol airs, gummy spearmint, twiggy saps, dried grass, citric and grassy hops, and magic marker chemical bite. The aftertaste breathes of eucalyptus and suntan lotion, phenolic chemical, floral clover honey, newspaper inkiness, white sugar sweetness, toasted pecans, herbal and perfumed floral hops, lightly adjuncty rice starchiness, and chalky pale malts. The body is light to medium, and the carbonation is medium, but frothy. Each sip gives surprisingly creamy slurp and smack, with hearty glug, foam, and pop on the back. The mouth is lightly coated, but quickly puckers into mild chalky astringency across the tongue. The abv is appropriate, and the beer drinks easily.

Overall, the best thing about this beer was its aroma. This component of the tasting was heavily flavorful and wonderfully representative of the hop bill within. It gave an array of varietals, including grass, florals, nectars, earth, and sweetly bittered citrics. These translated well into flavoring, but the perfumed qualities really take you by surprise, almost choking you up a bit at first. Again, this blends well with the inherent fruitiness and clean maltiness throughout, striking fresh and reproducible cords with each sip. The feel is soft, contributing positively to the experience. All in all, this is a tasty, sessionable, hop filled IPA that will satiated your taste buds and help you sip the night away.
