Bottled on June 10, 2013; consumed on August 15, 2013.

A: Poured from the 750 ml, caged and corked bottle into a Sam Smith's nonic-style pint glass. Body is quite hazy; honey/amber-orangey in color. Active carbonation is apparent right out of the bottle; it results in a very big (3-fingers-plus) ivory head with a lot of staying power. It finally dissipates - somewhat - to a foamy meringue-like head and leaves behind loads of foamy lace.

S: Very nice IPA nose: juicy citrus and some pine needles.

T: First impression is the bitterness at the finish: almost like chewing pine needles. After a couple sips and a palate adjustment, I get some citrus underneath the piney finish - think grapefruit peel or pith - and a bit of lemony drying bitterness lingering in the aftertaste. Malt provides foundation, but not a lot of sweetness. This is primarily bitter; perhaps too one-sidedly so, even for an American IPA. Still, I don't dislike this beer, it's just not too subtle. Relatively high-for-the-style ABV of 7.5% is noted after a few sips, more in the head than in the form of heat on the palate or in the belly.

M: Medium in heft. Carbonation is active in appearance - it refortifies the head all the way down the glass so at no time is there less than a half-finger of thick foam on top - but fairly gentle on the palate.

O: Very good. Reminds me vaguely of Victory Hop Wallop in the way that it's quite bitter and somewhat one dimensional, but as someone who more than occasionally enjoys the hoppy side of life, I like it.

Bottled on 4/11/14.Pours a dull burnt orange tinged medium golden with a huge blooming white head in fact an overflow even with a somewhat gentle pour.Citrusy hops in the nose but not real in your face with some mild pine as well, sweet alcohol is there along with caramel sweetness.Really carbonated in my opinion too much, pretty prickly and sharp.Citrus and melon notes on the palate with a real alcoholic edge like alot of Weyerbacher stuff, not in your face alcohol but it plays a big role.Eh not one I'll go back to,the hops don't pack enough punch for me.

In a snifter the beer was a hazy amber color with an off-white head. There was abundant lace.

Hoppy, hoppy aroma. Citrus and pine. Sweet malt.

Grapefruit hops, a little resiny pine. Malt background.

This was a very hoppy beer. If you don't like big hops, this beer isn't for you. I certainly liked it.

Not my favorite choice of hop pairing by Weyerbacher, but I think I can
understand what they were going for here.

This beer proudly stands on its own among the other the other fantasies crafted by Weyerbacher. It has back bone and personality, especially as you warm up to it. The more you drink it the more your palate develops deeper fruit notes and over sees the hops that had been baring down on you

If this beer had a hand I would shack it.
I'd spit on the ground, call him a son-of-a-bitch and hope that I'd see him around soon.

750 ml bottle of hops released this year let's see how it held up, looks great deep copper amber with a big head flowing forth light beige thicket of head forms nicely. Aroma has pine, citric notes with orange zest it's a great grassy floral quality of big hop layers in the nose, I'm liking it!!! Flavor is bitter with citrus zest and crushed aspirin, goes down exquisitely nice big beer with big hops and ample malts to balance out the show. Mouthfeel is big oily and accentuates all hop flavors fully I'm in love with this beer, it's a big hoppy badass beer that we need more of, the unfiltered aspect just adds to hop chunks floating in your glass who doesn't love that? Crushing waves of bitterness I'm not embarrassed to enjoy this onslaught of hops it's seems so fresh because of the big unfiltered raw hops in a 7.5% IPA I'm looking for more of this stuff and I know where to find it at retail get ready for a resinous hop mouthfeel with ample natural smooth carbonation all day. Great overall experience there's nothing like this on the market go and try some if you catch it soon, I hope they re release this stuff this coming summer!!!

A deep, rich, bright gold color, this beer fits in the median of the color spectrum for IPAs. It's got a cloudy depth to the body. A soapy white head reaches and lingers at one finger tall, dropping slowly and leaving patchy deposits of lacing as it recedes.
The aroma pours out of the bottle and I'll call it dank. It's definitely a smell partakers of a certain substance would like. I like it, too, and the potent mix of dank, raw, earthy, leafy, floral bitterness does it well.
It's bright and clean, with all of the elements of the aroma coming through in the flavor, not quite as dank but just as raw. Leafy without much pith, it's a sturdy bitterness that should appease most hopheads. There's some citrus and rind in there too.
The feel is equally clean and bright, the particular leafiness making it fairly dry while a sort of juiciness evens it out. The medium body holds up, crispness is gently biting and consistent, and it has a nice smoothness for an overall very well-rounded mouthfeel.
I love Weyerbacher's price point, and at $9 for a 750, Viridis Lupulus is no exception.

hazy dull orange color with about 2 fingers of super sticky white head. Smells like dank hops and grapefruit in a wicker basket. Citrus and faintly oniony with a very small bit of caramel. Very intense hop aroma.

Very dank hop flavor and wow very big bitterness encompasses the entire back of the tongue. Some bright citrus up front but then the beer goes into raw hop flavor. Very earthy and raw hop leaf flavor and a bit spicy and oniony. Extremely faint sweetness lingers with massive hops bitterness lingering. I thought it might be tough for this beer to compete with double simcoe but they are completely different beers. For those that truly seek big hop flavor. Very spicy and herbal with a touch of alcohol heat. Pretty good. Body is surprisingly light with lots of carbonation. Almost no malt presence at all.
