Hmm. Not many reviews on this. I was pleased to see it on tap at Bukowski’s today, and tried it immediately. Deep brown to black color with a thick tan head. A thick rich lace develops from the foam as I drink the beer. Wonderful roast malt aroma rises out of the glass. There are definite hints of licorice in the nose. More roast malt in the flavor with hints of chocolate and more licorice. Rich, smooth mouth feel. A little boozy. Medium drinkability. The high alcohol does hurt the drinkability a little.

Tried this one at the Blind tiger in NYC on tap. Poured black, w/o light coming thru. Dark tan head, disolved to a tiny bubble film and left lots of fine lacing. Nose was strong coffee beans and chocolate. This is a big bruising, bountiful, flavorful, very high quality sipper. Big chocolate, coffee, roasted barley flavors. Hops are plentiful in the finish, making this a complex and heady brew. Try to find some, not sure on availibility or bottling. Heavyweight rocks, thank you big time Tom B.!
