Stopped by because I was in the area for business. Small place, somewhat quaint and classy with lots of wooden displays. However, beer selection was pretty sub-par. A couple of selections from local breweries (like MBC, CBC) and from some of the larger national breweries (Stone, DFH, Founders, Great Divide) but that's about it. Maybe 100 unique bottles. Selection didn't appear very fresh with some dust present. Prices were quite high as well, I would say 10-20% above what I would expect to pay normally.

For being in the burbs, this place is a gem. There is nothing else like it within a 30 minute drive. It doesn't have the biggest selection but what it has is good. They get the best of what MA has to offer and price it reasonably. I got my 4-pack of CBS for $12. They have Ballast Point Sculpin for $10. They also sell singles of anything in the cooler which many places around here don't. Nice for trying new things.
They are constantly getting in new bombers and running sales. The service is good. The manager has tried everything in the place and can point you in the direction of something new if you tell him what you like. Another benefit is the restaurant next door that is BYOB. Grab a decent meal and a bomber and your night is starting off the right way.

Have been meaning to check this place out for a while, but was just driving by today, pulled a U-turn, and stopped in.
I like the wood shelving and wine boxes and open-concept of this small market. A bustle could be heard from the diner that shares the storefront.
They don't carry a lot, but what they do carry is some of the best quality products around. I managed to find 2 bottles of Goose Island's Big John, as well as some rare Belgian finds including De Struise's Black Albert, Fantome Saison, Cantillon Rose de Gambrinus and some vintage items you can't find everyday.
No one asked if I needed help, but were friendly as I checked out, packaged my purchases with care, and were pleasant to deal with.
They have probably half a dozen beer cooler doors filled with six-packs that you can obviously break up since most were missing a bottle or two. The warm shelves were clearly labeled, well laid out, and had many rare finds. Amongst a few of the usual suspects.
I wouldn't call this place expensive, especially given the small town location, but they tended to be 50 cents to a dollar more than where I usually go.
Definitely will be back occasionally to find rare gems, but will not make my regular shop.

This is my haunt - JP has done an increasingly impressive job of sniffing out unusual European brews while maintaining a rotating stock of tricky to find domestics. This isn't a wall-to-wall beer store; wine dominates the floor - beers are in two medium sized coolers or nestled neatly into their own little corner alongside a wealth of fine whiskeys and other spirits.
Prices are right on point (there's always a couple great steals) and service is friendly. Often, there's a couple bottles opened at the door for a sample of something tasty. There's also a great Italian cucina adjacent where you can bring your new libation.
For the most part, I'd rather have a smaller beer store with very thoughtful choices than a massive wall of beer staring at me - Groton Market delivers. JP likes good beer and is ramping up his offerings steadily. He'll find what you're looking or something you didn't even know you wanted!

Awesome and convenient place. Mostly a wine shop with spirits but they have a great little belgian section. All the trappists are there and other beers seem to be on a rotation. Beers also often go on sale there and that's a good time to pick up a bunch of bottles you've never seen before. Great local selection too, tons of Allagash and other extremely local brews.
Large cooler for more mainstream beers, perfect for picking up for a BBQ or gathering.
There's also a nice lil food place next door (they actually have an open doorway between them) that allows you to drink your beverages on their premises, which includes an outside seating area. Pretty much perfect for the summer.
I just got a 750ml bottle of St. B Wit there for $8 !!

Smaller cooler and some good bomber/singles selections, including a nice German and Belgian offering (not bombers). Some prices cheaper than other places.
the beer rotates, which means -- buy it when you see it, as it might not be there when you return next month. Plenty of macro, but good micro sixers, plus you can break a 6 and buy singles. Some oddball foreign stuff available in single bottles.
One of those places that you go to seeking a surprise, not something you are looking for. Overall, worth the stop in Groton, but not as a regular provider. Too small or uneven in offerings. A blind offering liquor store.

This was a pleasant surprise for me going out for craft beer on Christmas eve. I am not from this area and I had no idea where to go for beer. I found this place from a suggestion of a relative. There is mostly wine and spirits in this store but for the beer that they do have here is fantastic. Some Goose Island which is new to this state, some Stone brews, a good ammount of Abbey choices, some great local beers like Berkshire brewing in growlers, and even some vintage Sierra Nevada Bigfoot. The people I spoke to here were pretty darn nice considering how busy it was. Before I knew it I was adding armfuls of beers together trying to see what else I could carry. Good prices too, worth every penny considering that this must be the best place for miles.

Not a huge selection, but what they have is good. They rotate their stock regularly and the prices are reasonable. Within the past year I've stumbled upton such treats as Atomium Grand Cru and Founder's KBS '09. They have a website now and they update their beer list often. (www.grotonmarket.com) There's a cooler section and another section of beer at room temperature on shelves.
If you're in the area, definitely worth a stop in. Pair something from here with some food from Filho's Cuchina, the BYO alcohol Italian eatery next door and it doesn't get much better.

Located right along 119(Main Street Groton), across the street from Donelans, Groton Market is a great little package store in the heart of small town Groton. Simple square room loaded with central shelves of wine, as well as wine and liquor along the walls. A simple cooler mid store holds the 6 pack selection, while singles and bombers are along the wall in back.
Selection is somewhat limited. Coolers along the back are stocked with a good mixed bag of local and national micro and craft brews. Along with your typical German and other imports, they have a surprising small focus on American macro. Off to the left side of the store in the back is one and half shelves dedicated to singles, bombers and 750mls. It's limited in it's scope, but pretty much a who's who of the best of the craft world. Southern Tier, Dogfishhead, Avery, Stone, Bear Republic, Ommegang, Allagash, etc, etc. A nice selection of German & English bottles as well. Some beers even have the BA shelf talkers(always a good sign)
Prices are fairly on par with everywhere else in MA, and service is good. Everyone I encountered in store actually seemed to know their stuff.(again, always a good sign)
Overall, a great beer store if you're in the area. Not the holy grail of selection, but really an extremely strong. As a former Groton resident, GDRHS grad, and my parents till live in the town, I'll definitely try and stop by whenever I'm in town. Still, If I still lived in the area, this would be my every day store for sure.

Groton Market is limited in the amount of space they allocate to beer, but within that space they make the most of it. As you might expect from this statement there is no space wasted on Bud, Coors, etc. You have Dogfishead (including the 120 minute IPA). You have many of the Rogues and the Linderman fruit beers. Lots of German imports. Last time I was there, they had 5 liter mini-kegs of Warsteiner for Octoberfest. They also have at least a half-dozen varieties of sake. Tip: Don't miss the "back area" off to the side and behind the cooler. It may look like a back room, but it's yet more selection not found on the shelves or in the cooler.

Nestled in historic Groton, the Market is 90% wine, but seems to be delving into micros more of late.
Small selection, but nothing old here and prices seemed good.
Hop Whallop, River Horse, Westmalle 750's, Golden Monkey 750's, and DeDolle amongst the finds.
Customer service was good, and I've been told they will special order, (a dieing art it seems).
There was an incredible aroma eminating through the wall of this place, apparently they are adjacent to an Italian eatery.
It must be torturous to the help.
Not exactly a convient locale, but if you're in the Nashua area and have a map, give it a shot. Groton seems like a cool little town.

Groton Market is a small store which focuses on wine. However the beer they do sell is a high quality selection (and fine whiskey too).
This store is located right in the center of Groton off 119. It is across the street from Donelans supermarket and it shares space with an awesome 'Pastaria' called Filho's Cucina ( http://www.filhoscucina.com/home.asp ). In fact you can get a nice dish, walk through a side door into Groton Market and grab a single or some wine and enjoy it with your meal.
Groton Market is very clean, you can tell they really care about their appearance. As far as some of the beers they carry... Westmalle, Ommegang, Chimay, Stone, Victory, Kulmbacher Eisbock, Aventinus and some other local brews. A very good selection for the amount of beer that they carry, in fact there are many more imports/micros than your typical wine store or package store would carry.
They also have a nice discount if you buy multiple singles, IIRC 3 bottles = 10%, 6 bottles = 15%, and 12 or more = 20% off.
This is well worth the stop if you're in Groton which is a beautiful town. Also you might want to check out a new restaurant called Gibbet Hill ( http://gibbethill.com/ ), in the neighborhood, it's in an awesome restored barn, great steaks.
