Beautiful copper amber color with an billowing off white cream head looks like a doughnut floating on top of the beer. First sip where are the hops, it's maltier than any IPA I've ever had it's best by date is 6/2014. Aroma, where are the hops it smells like caramel/biscuit malt tart mild grapefruit in the background. Flavor is such a dumbed down hop flavor, really I love Stoudts and the DIPA has always been a winner but this is below par fort them their helles, hefeweizen, and pils are world class this is just lacking in so many ways. Mouthfeel carbonation is solid I can't complain but there's no hop resins just a bit of residual hop bitterness that tastes more like hop pellets than anything else. Overall go back to the drawing board please.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 7/15/2014. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy deep orange/copper color with a 2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of lemon zest, lime, orange zest, herbal, floral, grass, light mint, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/earthy hops and moderate malt sweetness; with solid strength. Taste of lemon zest, lime, orange peel, grapefruit, pine, herbal, floral, grass, light mint, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon zest, lime, orange peel, grapefruit, pine, light mint, light caramel, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and robustness of bright citrus/earthy hops with moderate malt sweetness; with a crisp malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good IPA. Good complexity and balance of bright citrus/earthy hops and moderate malt sweetness; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

A- Hazy dark orange, almost light brown. The is nonexistent.
S- Very little hop aroma. There is a hint of sweet caramel malt.
T- Very maltg upfront. It's sweet with caramel, coffee, and vrainy flavors. The bitterness is spicy and dry at the end.
M- Medium bodied with low-moderate carbonation.
O- Overall, a very malty low hopped IPA.

I had this from the bottle in a tumbler chilled at Wegman's market cafe.
The color is medium to dark copper with mild hazed look and thin white cap with fine bead, spotty lace collects. The smell is nice w/ mild pine and slight yeast fruitiness with slight caramel sweetness in the nose and a subtle herbal aroma. The feel is decent with bitter entry and medium carbonation with slight sweet middle with a mostly dry toasted finish.
The flavor has a fruity tangy yeast juxtaposed with citrus from the hops with mild toasted malt flavor supporting and mellow caramel accent for good measure. There is a touch of pine like hop qualities but it is more bitter grapefruit pith as it lingers on. The Overall take is I was not disappointed, but I was not sure what to expect either. It is drinkable but there are many I would rather have.
