Red-orange amber color with a lovely sprout of head. Lacing is two thumbs up.

Thin hoppiness. Minty hop, raw leaf, aspirin powder, floral notes, and more chalkiness. Rather dry, and non-fruity. Not a boastful hop nose, but malts neither. They have no stock in this beer. Just a pale cereal note that gets lost behind minty leaf, flowery hop, and the smell of talc.

Flavors are cleaner. Slicing through lime leaf, aspiriny hops, raw hop cone, peppermint, floral notes, lemon rind, and more of that pale cereal backing. Crispy and delicious. So easy to drink. Body is sudsy light; meaning, the carbonation steals all the good waves. I almost thought this was their session IPA, because of the drinkability. Don't get me wrong... the flavors are great.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a light brownish color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is a bit hoppy, some malts are present. Taste is hops, bitter, some pine, a bit of malts at the finish. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall a decent beer, but not a great IPA.

- consumed in a spiegelau ipa glass.

(3.40) A: Pale orange, distinguishable clarity with a billowing, champagne colored head 3+ inches. Quick release of carbonation bubbles, acceptable broken band lacing coverage with a fair retention rate.

(3.35) S: Nose was bready with pine underbrush, low aromatical appeal. Stalky fragrance with not much hoppiness.

(3.40) T: Spicy pine and toasted munich malt dryness, grassy with parsley herbs. Dry citrus grind, some spruce resiny touch with a dry finish.

(3.35) M: Low carbonation, medium body, dry, ok, but rather unexciting middle of the road experience.

(3.35) O: After having thier black eye pa and thier big nasty, this was a bit of a let down. Middle of the road experience, mundane hop flavor, dry hopped, not much flavor C+.

Stoudt's Fourplay IPA has a very thick, foamy, off-white head, a murky, orange-gold appearance, and fairly heavy lacing left behind. The aroma is an interesting mix of candle wax, hop resin, and sweet, white bread. Taste is of that, too, and the straight-forward hop bitterness comes in at the mid-to-end of the sip to balance it out, wonderfully. Mouthfeel is medium and soft, and Stoudt's Fourplay IPA finishes puckering, easy drinking, and not the least bit alcohilic.

Best by 7/15/14. 12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours burnt orange with nice clarity; fluffy white head that sticks around and leaves great lacing and retention. The aromas are subtle with lots of caramel malts blended with some grapefruit. Lots of bread. The flavors are very earthy. Lots of malts. There's a solid earthy bitterness. Lots of grass with hints of pine. Some lemon and lime too. Alcohol goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied and pretty smooth. Moderate carbonation makes this an easy drinking IPA.

This is a decent IPA, but it's pretty boring and doesn't end up really grabbing my attention. I'm a fan of Stoudts, but this isn't my favorite from them.
