Pours a nice light amber with a decent white head that fades a little too quickly but leaves some pretty decent lacing. The smell is really quite nice, biscuity and dry with a slighttly sweet fruit finish. Flavor is similar, but very frsh tasting, even fruitier and slightly grassy. This one is in almost perfect balance and is really whhat an apa should be. It doesn't have the grapefruit or intense bitterness of some waest coast apas, bu really isn't that what ipas are for? The malt shines in this one, but not enough to overnalance the delicate floral hoppiness. A great beer, the nicest apa I've had in a while. Nice refreshing mouthfeel but with enough body not to be bland. Very sessionable indeed!

This was a good, solid, very drinkable IPA. I had it on draught at a local bar, and it arrived at my table with a medium-sized head. I wasn't sure what to expect when I ordered it, because random micro-brewed pale ales tend to run the gamut from weak to extremely hoppy. The minute I smelled this guy, though, I knew I was going to enjoy it. Hoptacular. Smelled and tasted a little citric, a little sweet. Great lingering hoppy aftertaste. The head left a sticky lace around the top of my pint. I could easily have enjoyed several of these; a very drinkable IPA. I live less than an hour from this brewer, but I'd never heard of Stoudts until today. I'll have to investigate. Taste's good so far, though.

Appearance – Nice, hoppy orange in color and crystal clear with a good head that went down rather quickly.

Smell – This aroma is big on the grapefruit. I can also pick up a slight biscuity smell.

Taste – The hops, fuggle or Amarillo or both, lead things off here. The biscuity malt balance is appropriately light.

Mouthfeel – I thought this was the ale’s weak point. This was light-bodied and could have used a bit more character.

Drinkability – This is nice and refreshing if a bit on the light side for me.

12 oz bottle pours a clear copper amber body with a small offwhite head that retains well and leaves some patchy lace in its wake. Aroma is citrusy grapefruit and orange, with some assertive pine resin notes. A malty caramel accent is in the background.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with crisp carbonation. Some hop oiliness is also present.
Taste is aggressively hopped, similar to a SNPA, with dominant flavors of pine cone and grapefruit rind. Biscuity caramel maltiness wanders about underneath. The hop bitterness has a nice citrusy juiciness.
This is a very good APA, that embodies the style very well. The hopping seems very close to that of a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, but with just a notch less bitterness. Nicely drinkable.

on tap at the Standard Tap in Philadelphia, Pours clear, light honey amber, fine streaming bubbles reaching the top, off white puffy head, turning to a tiny bubble film and leaving healthy amounts of fine lacing and sheeting. Hoppy nose, citrusy, grainy hops and honey notes, maltyness leading to a nicely balanced and tasty ale. Nicely crafted/fine sessioner

Poured a cloudy dull copper in color, with a thick and creamy white head that quickly died down to a thin layer. Quality lacing of the glass. Aromas were hoppy, indeed. Lots of citrus and pine. Small dose of malty sweetnees, too. Flavor is pretty par for the course. Nothing too complex or awe-inspiring. Started off surprisingly sweet, only to be drowned out by a rush of hoppy bitterness. Finishes crispy and cleanly with only a small amount of bitterness. Very thirst-quenching. Medium-bodied and easy to drink. Went really well with my pizza. A solid offering and a good session beer.

This is from the new variety case. I drank it in a pilsner glass.

Pours a beautiful, clear copper with a one finger head of off-white foam. Carbonation bubbles lazily float to the top. The head drops to islands and a ring, with decent lacing.

Aroma is piney/grassy hops coupled with a clean, pleasant toffee malt background. Not overly fruity or estery.

The flavor is crisp, hoppy, with a good level of bitterness. Piney and grassy hop flavor dominates, with the malt playing a reserve role. Crisp and on the dry side. Aftertaste is crisp and hoppy.

Mouthfeel is kind of dry, with a strong bitterness in your throat. Carbonation is fairly smooth, and the finish is crisp and refreshing.

This is a pretty good example of the style. I believe they are trying to emulate SNPA, and have gotten fairly close. This has different hops, (it's not citrusy), but the format is much the same. Good beer.

12oz bottle poured in a pilsner glass.

Pours a deep golden color color with almost no head. On the nose is a handful of malt with a hint of hops. Perfect for an APA. Slightly earthy and very pleasant.

Taste is exceptional for an APA, nice balace, malty backbone with a decent amount of Hops to keep it goin. Can't taste the alcohol at all. A bit high for a session beer, but damn, I could drink this all day. Very tasty.

poured from 12 oz. bottle at cellar temp into pint glass. pours a clear golden light amber with some orange hues to it. a little over an inch of white to off white head. left a thin covering of foam over the top, pretty good retention. just a tiny bit of lacing.

the smell is of grainy, bready malts, some caramel, floral and a little bit of citrus from the hops.

i found the taste to be quite refreshing. some light malts in the begining that finishs with a wonderful hop bitterness.

light crisp and smooth, wonderful mouthfeel, really refreshing on a warm spring day. really nice sessionable beer. i would recommend this if your looking for a crisp clean american pale ale.

12 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass
A: Nice amber, opaque colored body, white frothy finger head, that dissipates but leaves a nice lacing down the glass, nice attractive pale ale.

S: I get a little bit of the sweet malts and some citrus hops in the aroma, smells very good.

T: Good hoppy bitterness, citrus notes of grapefruit. Good malt backbone after the hop bitterness, good tasting pale ale.

M: Good medium mouthfeel , refreshing, finishes slightly dry

O: I enjoyed this pale ale from Stoudts. Another solid addition from their lineup that I have experienced. Refreshing, price is ok, would definitely have again.

Faint amber color with a beige head of small, tight bubbles. The head lingers and laces the glass. Aroma is hoppy, as is the flavor. No real flavor of malt in this one. The hop is not overwhelming, but a bit much for a pale ale. Mouthfeel is very smooth, and fills the whole mouth. Carbonation is just right. It's a very good beer, but not heading to the top of my favorites list.

My review mirrors Shiloh's but his is far more clever.

Pours a clear orange with a big fat white head that dissapears all too soon. Nice lacing down the glass. Smells mainly of cascade hops but a slight bread/biscuit aroma seeps through.

Taste is just a wee hint of caramel malt up front with a quick switch over to the afformentioned cascade hops. Medium body and carbonation. Quite drinkable but probably better suited to the summer months. Not malty enough for moi, but that's moi.

Apperas an amber copper with an off white beige head. Very nice appearance, but not much lace forming here. Aroma is mainly floral hops that flow so well together with a very nice malt balance, man another great APA. Damn talk about refreshing. The flavor comes out a bit more pine coney with traces of grapefruit balanced by sweet succulent malt surrounding the taste buds. A fluffy moutfeel filled with goodness and a great oily texture carries hop resins so well. Yes this has a medium bodied defintion of mmm mm good. Drinkability, well yes I 've tasted it on tap and I say give me a case of this stuff wonderful so amazingly addicting if your into hops.

Bottle purchased from Hop City in Atlanta.

Pours a clear light copper color with a one-finger white head. The head dissipates into a wispy layer on top leaving light lacing.

Smells of light grapefruit and floral hops with good amounts of pale malts.

Tastes similar to how it smells. The pale malt flavors are a bit stronger than the smell would indicate and kick things off. Midway through the sip hints of grapefruit hop flavor enter in before a solidly bitter finish.

Mouthfeel is good. It's a bit on the thin side with moderate carbonation.

Drinkability is good. I didn't have a problem finishing the bottle and could have another.

Overall this is an easy-drinking APA but nothing special.
