This English-style ale is brewed with Marris Otter and Caramel malts for a rich, reddish-copper color and smooth malty palate. The use of bittering and aroma addition hops balances the regal, sweet maltiness and imparts a softly perfumed aroma.

On-tap at Clark's Ale House
Nice dark orange and amber body with a creamy white head and decent retention. Looks great, but smell and taste are too light. Sweet ringwood aroma with a little hops, but faint. Similar taste is nice but very light. Its hard to pick out the hops at all. Mouthfeel is watery, but it is fairly drinkable.
Does Clark's just have an old keg here? What gives?

Tasty beer, have enjoyed drinking this for many years, have always loved all of Stoudts offerings, as my cousin from Germany would say "Lets get some of the beer from that Carol Stoudt!"

Poured from the bottle into the glass.
A: Clear copper with less voluminous head that dies down to a 2mm of bubbly foam with minimal lacing.
S: Light hop note, floral and very light earthy note. Medium malt note like toffee.
T: Follows nose with more maltiness and faint, subtle floral and herb notes.
M: medium-light bodied, not filling, mildly hoppy bitterness on ultimate finish.
O: Nice example of the style that I am pretty sure I can get at the local store for a welcome break from non-nuanced, imbalanced and unsubtle brews.

Although others with me liked this, it was a bit to much carmel sweetness.

warning, if you spill this beer on you - you will smell like beer like a skunk smells like a skunk after it has been hit by a car. There's no hiding it. THis FINE BREW is what the long-time beer drinker wants... just beer... choco and piney hops and a bit of metallic funk(phenols?) that somehow just add to the ridiculously wild and flavorful beer bomb. Not as sessionable as their helles(one of the finest american lawnmower beers to be had), but for someone weary and tired of all the fancy-pancy, fruity-tooty, same-old-same-old... well... this is wayyyy past due. GRAB A FEW! Grainy? Yes. Malty? Yes. Hoppy? Yes. ANy questions? No. You drink your raddler or sour, and I'll drink one of these...
SHow me a 5 percenter with more "beer" flavor... let me hibernate.

Appearance - Pours deep copper color with thin quickly dissipating off white head. Spotty lacing all around the glass.
Aroma - Light malt aroma mixed with some floral notes. Caramel finishes off the nose.
Taste - Nice malty, slightly bitter nutty flavor. There are mild flavors of caramel and some floral flavors as well. All the flavors other than the malts are well balanced, the malts do not over power but are more prominent.
Feel - Medium body soft carbonation, pretty dry finish, bitterness lingers a bit.
Overall - A solid ESB, great flavors well balanced a very easy drinking beer.

Pours a dark burgundy with just a little fog to it. Finger and a half of off-white head, with good retention and barely any lacing. Aroma is toasted, and nutty malts with a bitter bite. Flavor profile is a non-dynamic display of toasted, and nutty malts with pine hops. Nothing very loud, just a consistent flavor profile from start to finish. Mouth feel is medium-thin with a slightly watery edge. Overall, a beer that drinks simple enough to be easily sessionable, or an easy-going, post-work beer.
