Bottle courtesy of chcfan. Thanks Chris! 12 oz bottle with "bottled on 7/29/09." I would have gotten to this sooner but it was hidden in the back of the fridge. Oh what treasures one can find in a fridge full of beer.

A glorious lightly hazy copper tinted golden color. Almost looks like a hazy orange. A nice one finger off white foamy head. Retention isn't the greatest, but it does leave some intense lacing.

Obviously this isn't in it's prime. Huge maltyness is just about all I get. It's nearly completely void of citrus hops, but I can detect a substancial spicey and grassy hop aroma that still lingers even some 5 months after being bottled. Still, an incredible malt backbone is the main aroma I'm getting. Actually smells like a young barleywine, with a nice alcohol bite.

The taste is surprisingly mild. The malts have been toned down significantly considering how strong they were in the nose. Hops play a much bigger factore in the taste than they did in the nose as well. Spicey hops up front with a slightly dry finish. Literally no alcohol until the aftertaste, when you feel a slight burn in your throat.

Mouthfeel is light to medium, probably more medium. It's crisper than I thought, with a hidden carbonation, but it's still smooth.

Very drinkable. The alcohol is barely noticeable and the extreme maltyness of the nose is much more subdued in the taste.

Overall, I'm pretty impressed with this. Even though it's surely past it's prime, it's still very good. Thanks Chris for the chance!

I did not see any dates on this bottle, but I got nothing in flavor other than a slight fruity double IPA mixed with a strong sour style beer taste. (Vinegar is what really hit my palette from this beer, I was not satisfied at all, especially for a double IPA, but the alcohol presence was definitely strong. I poored it out after two sips, and I have never purposely wasted a beer before. Maybe I will try another just to be sure it wasn't an old beer, and if I get a better taste the next time, I will certainly update my review.

Undated bottle at 45 degrees into standard pint
Weak aroma of pine
Head average (4 cm), white, creamy with rocks, slowly diminishing to 2 mm layer
Lacing excellent, semi-continuous of primarily small bubbles coating the glass
Body medium orange, hazy
Flavor begins with a sweet alcoholic pineyness, which fades quickly to nothing. No diacetyl.
Palate medium, slightly oily, lively carbonation.

A mediocre DIPA, worth trying once. Possibly, like Fat Dog, better on tap than in bottles.
