12oz, bottled 1/7/2009. Thanks to my friend Steve for picking this up for me on a business trip to Michigan.
Poured a coppery-orange color with a mild haze from the bottle conditioning. A foamy off-white head pours thick, but thins fairly quickly. Aromas are sweet smelling - caramel malt with a floral hop character. Also herbal notes with some tropical citrus on the nose. I was surprised at how the malt stood out with the aroma. Taste goes with the aroma - again malt upfront that is biscuity and sugary and holds up well to the hops. Some mild citrus flavors do peek through - ripened pineapple, with some slight orange. Herbal notes also stand out. Finishes slightly bitter, but very sweet also. Alcohol is definitely present, but not over-bearing. I guess I could say I was disappointed with this one. It's decent but there are better Double IPAs out there in my opinion.

poured from a bottle in a mug. pours a beautiful amber-orange, with a thick velvety off white head. lacing is evident and the head is retaining even half way through the beer.
the smell is fruity and sweet with a bit of alcohol essance. the delicious smells arent out done by the tase though. the taste is alcohol bite and hops bitterness followed by a fruity sweetness and finished with a bready dryness.... just what i like. mouthfeel is spot on bit of burn at the cheeks, smooth semi thick feeling in the mouth nice carbonation once again.. spot on
overall this is my new favorite beer and definately a world class beer... a little pricey by the sixer for me and because of its potency maybe not the wisest choice for a session beer . but a favorite i will definately remember not to over look again . excellent excellent beer. ( just finished the first one. the lacing and head stayed all the way til the last drop)

Had this poured from a 12oz. can at the Malted Barley in RI.
Appearance: Pours a golden amber orange brown color. A very careful pour did not generate any head but a few swirls brought out a bit of a cap.
Smell: Sharp sugars, some alcohol and *lots* of fruits in the nose. It makes me think on passion fruit and peaches.
Taste: Toasted sugars and fruity juicy flavors are pleasing but not as complex as the Middle Ages beer I had last night. There is a bit of orange oils, peachy juices and citrus hops (but not very bitter). The alcohol is very evident. I enjoy it but I think some people may find it quite boozy.
Mouthfeel: The texture is slick despite the sharp alcohol attribute.
Drinkability: This beer went down quite nicely but I would certainly *not* consider this an 'easy' or a sessionable beer.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into DH IPA glass.
A: Orange golden hue. Pours a 2 finger, tight, frothy white head. Settles slowly leaving some residue behind as it does. Thick, persistent beer ring lacing.
S: Orange and lemon citrus, tropical fruit, and pine resin. A bit of a soapy distinction.
T: Biting hops accentuated with some orange liqueur, pine cone, some bitter nut shell, and a slight sweet resin.
M: Thick and syrupy fell. Hops attack the palate and linger. Bittersweet finish that seems a little off. Boozy.
D: Character will dictate a sipping experience.
Atmosphere is good. Frothy head, and thick persistent lacing. Citrus, tropical fruit, and pine make up the nose. Biting with some boozy orange, bitter nut, and pine resin (not enough to finish the balancing act though). Overall, this is a good quaff.
