Hazy light copper hue. Head recedes into a one fingered, pitted cream white layer. Loose lace remains. Assertive wafts of pink grapefruit flesh and smashed pine needle upfront in aroma. Secondary are notes of peach like esters and light toffee. Robust, clean and inviting aromawise. Incipient in flavor is cuspate hop bitterness, which lends a transient, puckering dryness. Sweetness ensues promptly, in a combination of sugary caramel and slightly underripe tangerine. As the beer warms, gentle butterscotch hints bolster the caramel malt backbone. Moderate in body for style, with a dangerously fliud and brisk mouthfeel. Finishes with an apricot skin and hopped vanilla sugar cookie notes lingering agreeably. Satiating alcohol warmth surfaces after a deliberation. An excellent DIPA overall with superb drinkabilty. A quintessential example of the style with its citrus driven flavor profile and sturdy, yet dryish malt backbone. Top notch, and an instant DIPA favorite of mine.

Picked up a 4 pack in DC, first week of April 2014. Poured into a snifter.

This DIPA has a cloudy haze to its copper orange color. Head is plentiful, three fingers thick, foamy and pillow-like. Lace is abundant and scattered and the head shows some great persistence.

There's a bittersweet citrus aroma on the nose, reminiscent of grapefruit. It's got that dank quality, some citrus peel, and a sweet malt presence.

Ooh, this has a pungent citrus flavor. Almost like orange juice and reminds me a bit of Deschutes Fresh Squeezed. The flavor is alternately sweet citrus and dry orange peel. Complementing these elements is a sweet maltiness about mid-palate that lends some breadiness or toast. It all works very well. I like this quite a bit.

Bitterness up front leads way to citrusy sweetness, then the thick malt middle. The beer has a long dry finish that is somewhat like biting into an orange. It's pretty easy drinking for a DIPA and isn't hot at all.

I discovered this beer through the recommendation of a Whole Foods beer-buyer and I'm glad I did. It's tasty and heavy on citrus, so I can get my vitamin C intake for the day.

A- A dark hue resembling a light black tea color. Topped with a good 2 finger head. Exceptional lacing with this beer.

S- Sweet hoppy notes. floral. Fruity notes are over the top intense. Yeasty bread.

T- Wow. Just...Wow. sweet hoppy flavor. A pale bitterness in the mix but it really softens out in the finish. Tropical fruits twisted with a bready flavor. Just awesome.

M- thicker with a smooth syrup texture from the hop sugars. Very full body.

O- This one is at the top of my DIPA scale. It is simply in a class all it's own. Very rarely do you come across a beer that packs this much flavor into 12 simple ounces. All I need is a good loaf of Italian bread and a tall glass of this and paradise is not too far off.
