Poured from a 12 oz bottle.

A - Clear, light honey color, single finger off white head, recedes quickly leaving great glass lacing.

S - Scents are tightly bound together and very subtle, get some pine, some grapefruit and very slight sweet malt.

T - Excellent, incredibly balanced between the hops profile of pine, grapefruit and orange and the slightly sweet malted toffee, very nice finish.

M - Very creamy mouth feel, medium bodied moderate carbonation.

O - This is a keeper, very nice brew, nice long satisfying finish.

All around excellent DIPA. Nice fruity finish to a moderately bitter brew. One of the best DIPA's I've ever had out of a bottle. A little pricey (I paid about $15/4 pk), but well worth it. It is important for this beer to be kept cold, so make sure you buy it from somebody who has handled it properly to guarantee freshness. Nothing worse that a microbrew being cooked on a hot delivery truck !

Purchased on recommendation from Bob at West Burlington Wine Company. Poured into an IPA glass.

A: A very rich orange-gold with hints of brown and red. Very dramatic coloring, like a sunset sky. Vivid, bright, wonderful. Rich and full, thick opaque, a nice milky head, very strong lacing, lovely lovely appearance. Nice carbonation flowing up on the sides of the beer. Possibly one of the most attractive looking beers I've ever seen.

S: Packed full of thick malty richness with a very strong hop body. Lots of citrus, grapefruit, honey, caramel and wood notes. I'm even getting a nice "leather" aroma, which is a first I think.

T: Full-bodied, rich and sweet, extremely malty base with huge hop character on top. A lot of citrus, orange and grapefruit on the nose. A slight rosey effervescence. Sweet with a lot of honey and caramel. Very boozy, fairly bitter but not overpowering. Estimated 70-80 IBU. The flavor is very rich and has numerous nuances. Bready aftertaste. Hard to describe because it's so thick and flavorful! As this beer warms you will notice various tastes that are completely different from what it had before.

M: Thick and rich, but not hard to drink. Very crisp, nice balance and carbonation.

O: This is one of the best balanced double IPAs I've had. It's not overly bitter which is nice, maybe that's not characteristic of the style, but still it's a very good double IPA. Loved it! A+++!

Golden orange in color with a heavy haze. Poured with a short, dense, white foam that reduced to a healthy cap leaving sheets of sticky lacings down the glass. Musty, ripe tropical orange aroma with herbal hop and boozy notes along with a bready, malty backbone. On the heavier side of medium bodied. Smooth feel in the middle with light, tangy, prickly carbonation on the edges. Earthy, musty, tropical flavors, ripe pineapple, orange and grapefruit. Sweet malty and boozy flavors at the end as this finished with musty, herbal hoppiness and malty notes. Not a typical DIPA. Teetering on the edge of DIPA vs barleywine. Nevertheless, a hoppy, malty fabulous beer.

I did not see any dates on this bottle, but I got nothing in flavor other than a slight fruity double IPA mixed with a strong sour style beer taste. (Vinegar is what really hit my palette from this beer, I was not satisfied at all, especially for a double IPA, but the alcohol presence was definitely strong. I poored it out after two sips, and I have never purposely wasted a beer before. Maybe I will try another just to be sure it wasn't an old beer, and if I get a better taste the next time, I will certainly update my review.
