Bottled 12/13/18 (pretty sure)
Enjoyed 10/11/19 (sure)
added to a "make your own six-pack"
L. Black, not opaque, small off-white head.
S. Bakery and chocolate, like fresh chocolate donuts. And that's about it, so it smells pretty great.
T. Sweet fresh bread, semi-sweet chocolate, some sweet vanilla, even sweeter toward the end like a touch of honey. Aftertaste is chocolaty.
F. Body is rich and smooth, not too much carbonation, no noticable alcohol warming.
O. Was looking forward to trying this for the first time, yet I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this one. Give it a try. Cheers ! ! !

Poured black with a tan 2 finger head that quickly disappeared. Nose is faint roasted malt and chocolate. Taste is roasted malt forward with a detectable booziness as if it were a bourbon barrel aged brew, even though it is not. Dark chocolate and mild coffee then mix in with a wonderful black licorice finish. Moderate body and light carbonation is mixed with a sexy silkiness that is very nice. Very surprised at how good this was. I would definitely buy this again.

This brew pours a nice mahogany with semi off white foam and nice lacing, but neither hold on long.
The aroma is nice roasted coffee with some dark chocolate and cherry notes to it, and this is just how the taste follows with the coffees and nice fruitiness...slendid mix of evreything.
This is slendid in feel as well as flavor, taste, and very surprised for a Pa. stout brew...way to go local brewery! Cudos!

Not too sweet for being an Imperial Stout.

Hard poured from a bottle. It pours a dark brown. The head dissipates fast but what’s left laces pretty good. The smell is classic oatmeal stout with notes of bittersweet chocolate. The mouthfeel is medium carbonation and not terribly fizzy, which to me is pretty appropriate for this style. The flavor is really good. Pretty richly flavored, and definitely has notes of bittersweet chocolate. It a very good beer and worth a try.

This was poured into a mini snifter. The appearance was a dark brown color with no head and no lacing. The smell had a nice sweet milk chocolate and dark chocolate with roasty coffee tones roaming around the beer. The taste took all of those previously mentioned flavors to combine. Sweet gentle tones. A nice sweet rolling roasty aftertaste leads to a quick dry finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fairly decent sipping to sessionable quality about it. Carbonated nicely, the oatmeal helps to balance to a decent grainy feel. Overall, I’m quite pleased with this beer and would have it again.

Almost pitch black, with a very small head. Maybe I didn't pour vigorously enough. The smell is mild. I'm not able to distinguish much. Flavor is also mild, but in a good way. Hint of cocoa - bit of dark fruit perhaps. Quite pleasant, Mouthfeel is creamy, little or no alcohol burn, and sufficiently carbonated for my tastes.

A solid imperial that I would not hesitate to buy again.

12oz undated bottle that has a dog on the label that looks like a less-shaggy version of my cousin-dog George, a Newfoundland the size of a pony, easily the largest dog I have ever seen. My first beer from Stoudt's.

Poured into a River City snifter, this was a seemingly black color that took on a more dark brown shade when held up to light. Big, creamy tan head that took it's time dropping and left lots of lace.

Initially, the nose was boozy and roasty, surprisingly so for something not barrel aged. As it warmed, elements of vanilla and licorice joined the usual suspects of chocolate, coffee and molasses for the style.

The taste was much like the aroma. Once things had warmed up, the initial hit of roasty, coffeeish dark malts was succeeded by a more complex middle that reminded me of something bourbon barrel aged, with a light, warming alcohol taste beyond what the stated abv percentage prepared me for.

Creamy mouthfeel, though the body seemed a little thin.

This is yummy stuff. It's the equal of it's local equivalent, Iron Goat's Goatnik, which is not bottled or distributed widely even here in town. If I had access to it, I'd drink it regularly. Thanks, Rob!
