I recently got to visit Stoudt's and try their Fat Dog again. I remembered liking this before and as my first beer of the day I feel confident saying I REALLY like this beer now.
Nice dark black pour with a creamy one fingered head sitting right on top. Smelled like many of this style, roasted malt and a slight prefume of cocoa dominate. At first taste I wasn't sure this was an Imperial, it sort of settles a bit softer on the palate than many of this ABV but still tastes more substantial than the more mundane Oatmeal Stout's so commonly found.
In the mouth the beer was slightly chewy with a strong malt backbone that dominated on the tounge and helped highlight hints of some coffee and cocoa without completly overwhelming.
Serving type: on-tap
