Reviewed solo at home served out of a Shipyard pint glass.
Appearance: poured a 2 finger light brown head, black and almost opaque. Good lacing.
Smell: powdered chocolate and chocolate malts and almond esters.
Taste: opens surprisingly with bittering hops and dark chocolate as dark roasted caramel malts emerge in the middle but is taken over by the hoppy and dark chocolate opening leaving a hoppy but smooth and silky aftertaste almost like a milk stout.
Mouthfeel: minimal carbonation, medium bodied and smooth and silky.
Drinkability: I would have this again but on another night, I would recommend this to those who enjoy a dark chocolate and mildy hop open which finishes hoppy and more dark chocolate as it warms up.
Serving type: bottle
