Three laughing monks watch over you from the bottle as you sip this beer. They look like theyre having a good time, but I posit that they are laughing as you fall down from drinking too much of this beer. Silly you for not being careful with the high ABV stuff. Luckily, the alchohol taste of this beer isnt as hidden as it is in many Tripels.
Personal experience aside, I enjoyed drinking this beer a lot, though it wasnt one of my favorite tripels.
It pours a glowing orange amber color with a shocking white fluffy head. Large bubbles rise up from the depths, tickling my nose as I inhale the phenol sweetness of this brew. The nose is backed up by slight earthy and nutty scents.
A sip of this beer brings on many of the tastes of a Tripel plenty of yeastiness, clove spice, and banana backed up by a weak hop background. The alcohol taste is quite prevalent, and the hop characteristic is simply a background player. This causes a bit of unbalance, but nothing horrible. The mouthfeel is quite nice, a syrupy thickness combined with spot on effervescence.
