A- pours a beautiful deep amber color, with a two finger dense head. Thick creamy foam slowly dissipates leaving a thick cap and delicate lacing.
S- At first the nose is quite boring, but over time delicate bread notes and a heavy hand of noble hops shine through. Not overly complex or interesting, but nicely balanced and characteristic.
T- Very mild from front to back. Slight flavors of caramel malt, with dusty grain flavors all the way through. Finish is quite dry, especially for the style, and exhibit some metallic hoppy flavors. It lacks the depth, malt character, and layers of the style.
M- Again, thin for the style, but decent overall.
D- It does hide its alcohol well, and has the flavor profile of a session beer, so drinkability is pretty high.
Overall, a bit of a disappointment. It isn't nearly as good as Stoudt's other offerings, and it is quite a ways off base for the style. I won't be buying another one...

12oz. bottle poured into a porter glass.
A- Beautiful. A deep, translucent amber, with a dense, fluffy off white head. Laces fantastically.
S- Bready, caramel malts with an earthy hop component. The hops work surprisingly well, and make for a really tasty interplay of malt and hops.
T- A nice, bready, caramel and cracker malt bill. Big lager yeast presence, and some mild dark fruit. Closes with some earthy hops that come off almost minty. Lightly bitter on the finish.
M- pretty thick, certainly feels like a doppel. A creamy character that I find on a lot of Stoudt's brews.
O- Looks fantastic, mouthfeel is pretty great as well. Smell Falls a bit short, and I could use a bigger hop presence, but it's pretty darn tasty.

Dark amber copper color with a thick beige head with eternal retention and leaving a wall of laces.
Sweet aroma of honey, vanilla and papaya.
Intense and predominant sweet flavor of peaches, toasted malts, herbs and spices, and bit of pine. Quite dry and bitter aftertaste.
Medium body with appropriate carbonation. Alcohol of 7.2% abv is well hidden.
Well executed Doppelbock with an American hoppy touch, nevertheless malt still predominates here, as it should.
