When this beer was poured, it has a hazy straw colored body with not head or lace. The smell has a little lemon flavor and some banana comes through. The taste is grainey and clove come through strong. The moouth feel is nice and crisp, overall i say this is a good beer.

Poured more so yellow with nice white head.

The smell was of zesty lemon.

The taste at first was on the lemon and herby side but as it warmed up more and more banana came through.

The body was a little lighter for the style.

Not a bad Hefe at all but it's getting to the point where they are all starting to taste very similar to me.

Stoudts is a relatively new brand of beer for me. This was a pretty good first pass at their brand.

I poured their beer into a hef style glass. There was only about a finger and a half of foam on this and it was really thin. The foam dissipated to nothing really quick.

This is a very good coloring for a hef, but the lack of foam does not exactly match the hef style.

Off the top I get the belgian yeast, and there was a decent amount of wheat smell off the top.

The flavor is very clean as well. I don't get bubblegum or banana from this beer. It is an interesting mix of hef and dubbel.

This was a decent beer. I enjoyed the opportunity to try this brand. I look forward to the next Stoudts.

Served in a snifter. Beer is yellow and hazy with a soft white head, small bubbles, some lacing, decent retention.

Aroma is sweet and bananas, stronger than the other hefeweizen I just had, smells very fruity.

Beer is sweet but has a grainy, boiled vegetableness to it and I don't really like it, the yeast comes through saving it but this is not a repeat for me.

On-tap at the Grey Lodge Pub - Philadelphia, PA

The beer appeared to be a slightly opaque straw yellow with a thin white head, foamy and a surprisingly well retained. The beer had a very nice aroma, banana and cloves, just what one would expect from a Hefe. The taste was very good. Followed the nose perfectly. The beer had a lighter feel to it with good carbonation. The beer was very refreshing, crisp and very enjoyable to drink. Overall, this is a good beer and one that I would drink again.

Clear straw yellow with no head. It's not hazy as I expected and the color is light.

Grainy smell with a dash of lemon and clove.

Taste has faint banana and clove, a little lemon. Taste is also grainy.

Mouthfeel is crisp and medium-light body.

This is a pretty average hefe. All aspects but the mouthfeel are underwhelming

Pours an appealing hazy yellow color with a slight orange hue. Two fingers of fluffy white foam has settled to a thin lace rather quickly. Minimal head retention.

Definitely picking up the typical banana and clove like aromas.

Nice and fruity up front followed up by just the right amount of lemony tartness. Finish is crisp and refreshing.

Thin to medium body with a moderate carbonation level.

A pretty good Heifeweizen overall.

Morey’s Bottom Line: This is definitely a summer seasonal I could see myself picking up if only it were available in Erie. You would figure living in the same state and all, that wouldn’t be too difficult. Unfortunately, Stoudts seasonls are not currently shipped to the area. I’m working to change that. Cheers!

Thanks to the beneficence of Paulys55, I finally get to try a bunch of traditional German-style beers brewed in eastern Pennsylvania. This was the first one of them I cracked open.

Appearance: Poured from a 12-ounce bottle into my half-liter generic weissbier glass, Heifer-in-Wheat looks just as expected: a cloudy, golden-hued body with a faint hint of orange. Copious (four-finger) head, augmented by the yeast stirred up prior to a "weizen pour." Lots of retention on said head. Right on target for the style.

Smell: Also exemplary of the style, if somewhat more muted than the best of them. Crisp wheaty tang hits the nose first, followed very quickly by bready yeast, banana, and cloves. A glimmer of noble hops character is in there somewhere, but it's not at all prominent (again, just right for the style).

Taste: An archetypal hefeweizen that I'd give a 5.0, were it not a bit heavy on chalky/powdery yeast character. This must be a pretty fresh bottle -- the banana/clove is right up front, but at the end of each sip, I can actually detect the hops a LITTLE bit. Wholesome, bready, and mildly sweet.

Mouthfeel: Again, I'm guessing that this is a fresh bottle, as the mouthfeel is as rich, creamy, and full as any hefeweizen I've had (and I've had a lot of them). Vibrant effervescence carries the hefty yeast body right down the throat, exactly as should be the case with a good hefeweizen.

Overall: With 4.5s in every other category, I've got to deliver a 4.5 here, too! Easy-drinking, refreshing, and spot-on for the style. A glance at other reviews strongly suggests that this beer deteriorates quickly on the shelf, so be sure to seek out a fresh bottle (or, better yet, try it on tap). As American-brewed hefeweizens go, this one is near the top of the heap!

No directions or anything else of note on the bottle, so I will jump right in on this one.

I tried really hard to generate some head on this one, but it dissipated as quickly as I poured. Color was a very cloudy orangish-yellow. Nose was banana forward in terms of its esters, underlain by clove. Mouthfeel was medium and the taste had a muted banana flavor on the tongue. Finish was semi-dry and refreshing, but I felt like something was missing. It just did not have the oomph of some of the other hefeweizens that I have tried recently.

This is my first time reviewing any beer and if I must start this is a good one to start with.

I found it a very smooth beer with a slight smokey flavor, I didn't get any fruity taste but that might be due to my inexperience and having spent the last 30 years drinking "household" brand beers.

It was great to taste something so different than I am used to. The brewery is close to my home but I have not been there since I was a kid when my Father stopped there.

I would recommend this to every beer lover it was an excellent beer.

At the expo.

Poured cloudy and hazy light golden with hardly any head. Hmm, this is different for a wheat I guess. At least the banana is pretty prominent though! Lighter notes of clove and bubblegum, but mostly banana and wheat twang. A solid hefe with a smooth and crisp mouthfeel. Nothing that offends the palate here. Will revisit.
